Get ready to pick up a flat of strawberries, delight in delicious strawberry shortcake , and enjoy a day strolling the downtown historical streets of Starke. This is the 16th year Starke has hosted the Strawberry Festival. The event runs on both Saturday and Sunday. This year it is taking place April 12 and 13th. On Saturday the festival was from 9am - 7pm and Sunday 9am -5pm.
There is an assortment of craft vendors set up in the streets. I saw everything from wreaths, dog clothing , redneck crafts, quilts , food, and much more. There is a kid zone where you'll find free train rides for the kids and also bounce houses for them to have some fun. There is a stage where various entertainment is performed through out the festival. So, grab your shortcake ($4.00 a bowl) and take a seat to enjoy the Clark Hill Band, local dancers, and more. Admission into the festival is Free the only cost is anything that you buy while visiting.
If you are looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of Jacksonville for an hour or two we recommend the festival. If you missed it this year mark your calendars for next Spring .
