For anyone traveling to or from San Francisco Airport in the next few days during the always-chaotic Thanksgiving travel season: last weekend at San Francisco Airport I had a great sandwich, so I wanted to share my restaurant recommendation. I ate an Italian sandwich from Emporio Rulli; it was named the Milanese and included prosciutto, asiago cheese, and greens on a francese roll.
The ingredients were fresh, the sandwich was filling, and it was only $7.50 before tax (excellent compared to some much-lower-quality sandwiches I’ve paid $10 for in airports!). Plus, the service was quick and friendly; I didn’t have my sandwich toasted since I was running late but that is also an option. The café offers a huge variety of Italian panini sandwiches (with lots of scrumptious bread and roll choices), including vegetarian fillings, plus many pastries and coffee drinks.
Emporio Rulli has several San Francisco Airport locations: International Terminal Gates A & G, open 5:30am-11pm (note – you don’t have to be flying internationally, this is where my Virgin America flight to Southern California was located), and Domestic Terminal 3 / United Airlines Gate 77 (this location, open 5:30am-10pm, has a full bar). When you return from your travels, there is a convenient location at International Terminal Lower Level Arrivals open from 7:30am-9:30pm.
