Unique dining in Salt Lake: Meditrina - small plates, big tastes

Anyone who says there is not great gourmet food in Salt Lake has obviously not traveled outside of their nearest shopping mall. There are a lot of great places, and more opening up almost every week. One of the best additions to our valley in the last year is Meditrina.

Located across from the home of the Salt Lake Bees (Spring Mobile Ballpark) is a complete departure from typical American dining. A diverse selection of small plates like chicken satay, curry lime prawns, duck confit, or peppercorn crusted lollipop lamb chops. Each dish nicely portioned to share and sample a number of delicious dishes during your visit.

I absolutely loved the patatas bravas, grilled potatoes with shallots, spicy tomato aioli, & chili oil. Their antipasto plate is one of the most complete selections of flavor that I have found. Each dish we tasted was incredible and had us licking the plates clean. Their panna cotta is amazing, and the drunken Oreos is a great balance between familiar flavors and their own unique twist.

The dining room is a cozy, dim atmosphere. With the extensive selection of food, a great wine list, amazing desserts, and a great dining format, Meditrina is a perfect date spot. My recommendation is to pick 2-3 plates that catch your attention, share, and take it slow. Enjoy each bite and order more plates as needed.
