Nearly two hundred million people across the good ol’ U.S.of A. exchange clichéd cards and candy on February 14th. Do you really want to be put in the proverbial heart-shaped box like the rest of the country? Everyone wants to be shot in the ticker by a winged Cherub drawing back his bow. You can’t fight that lovin’ feelin’, so sheathe your sword, and let Cupid straighten-out your arrow before it wilts in its quiver.
This Valentine’s Day, what better way to say “I love you” than to give your sweetheart, significant other, life-mate, or that special person on whom you spy through the looking glass, a sexy and seductively sweet set of sticky buns! Like the money shot from your favorite late-night film, this sticky situation will, among other things, give rise to a great time at The Good Table. Their fresh “just baked muffins” are just that - so fresh you may have to give them a good spanking before you indulge. That is a great way to start off a Valentine’s Day Brunch.
The exceptionally friendly, yet discreet staff will charm you with sincere Valentine smiles, which they display all year round. They pride themselves on good service. Speaking of which, the table service is nearly as exceptional as the food. And that is no exaggeration. You feel and taste the love. Owner Lisa Kostopoulos prides herself on hiring and maintaining wait staff that make you feel warmly welcome. This is a family run business, and they’re in the business of making all diners feel like family (even the most red-headed stepchild will feel part of the family here).
The folk at The Good Table will raise your expectations higher than the smoke stacks and towers often seen in Alfred Hitchcock films. And one may go a little Psycho trying to pronounce all the syllables in the family’s name. But it’s no mystery why the Kostopoulos family has been proudly serving the greater Portland area in the heart of Cape Elizabeth, for over two decades. Lisa and her dad, Tony Kostopoulos, display great love for the region, and try to couple-up with the local farmers and fisherman as much as possible. They have a motto: “Good morning, good day, and good food”. Damn right! Keeping it local and fresh.
Omelettes with home fries… from Western to Spanish… all the way to Greece. You’ll be a lucky cluck. And that’s no yoke. (Egg white omelettes are available too). As a matter of fact, The Good Table serves up a Zorba style omelette that would make Anthony Quinn salivate and do that funny dance he did in Zorba The Greek! Let your taste buds prance over to romantic Italy and experience their Italian Villa: scrambled eggs, portobellos, sweet bells, basil, parmesan, home fries and focaccia. Bella!
Look into your lover’s eyes with seductive delight as you slowly pour “from-the-tree maple syrup” over delicious French Toast made with French bread, like a scene from one of those films directed by François Truffaut. But no smoking. Très Bon! Want to see something big and round? Keep your eyes peeled for sexy Banana Walnut Pancakes; it’s a sight you won’t believe. Talk about a European Union; The Belgian Waffles and a nice glass of Champagne would make a better couple than Agatha Christie and Hercule Poirot. And to really get Venus’s Brazil Nuts Thor, share a Breakfast Of The Gods while sipping mimosas and gaze tenderly into your loved one’s eyes. You’ll be wanting to mount Olympus before the check arrives!
The atmosphere and décor may be a little on the down-home humble side, but the service, the food, and the experience explodes in ecstasy. Like a blind date, there is nothing better than being surprised when walking into a place that seems quaint and non-descript on the outside, but delivers a pleasurable and memorable moment when you penetrate deeper and discover true culinary joy. The food is great at The Good Table. It’s all about Romance and sharing a special morning with that special someone on Valentine’s Day.
The Good Table will ply you with a bodacious brunch that will satisfy the most lustful of appetites. And the best part is, you won’t break the bank, so maybe you can go out and buy that heart shaped box of candy for a little late night lovin’ and create your own sticky buns!

Thank you for brining much needed humor to this area. And thank you for not reviewing the over priced restaurants like Street and Company,Hugos. As a single mom, it's nice to read about a place I can afford and to go to on a date. Joe, got any single friends? :>
