Baked Salmon, hot and sizzling, arrives to the table with the butter, lemon, wine sauce still boiling on the plate. Once the bubbles stop the salmon experience is so tender that it melts like butter on your tongue. The small amount of chopped onion and pepper is just enough to add interest without taking away from the delightfully delicate flavor of the salmon. French fries, cole slaw, applesauce, lettuce & tomato are some of the sides, that two choices are drawn from, and valued at $13.99, at The Clam Bar, aka, Smitty's Clam Bar.
The Baked Tuna special ($6.99 with sides) was prepared in olive oil, ginger, garlic, wasabi, and soy sauce, making the tuna tasty, although not as tender as the salmon.
Crunchy Fried Clam Strips Parmesan is a family pleaser, leaving the children happy and full. ($7.99 with sides). Plain Fried Clam Strips are also munch-tastic for $6.99 (with sides, of course).
The Clam Bar is a quaint old seashore establishment with the specific idea of selling fresh seafood. Raw seafood like the clams on a half-shell are sweet and tender (six clams for $4.99). Baked Fish of the Day is offered with choices of sauce from butter to wasabi. The fried seafood is crisp and not overly greasy, and the New England Clam Chowder is fabulous.
Server Amanda, kind and efficient as all of the servers experienced at Smitty's, darts in and out of the crowded rooms, as deftly as a dancer.
