For those of you who live in Rowland Heights near the Canyon Point shopping center, your wait is finally over. Eat Cake Café has finally opened its doors.
As you walk into this light and airy bakery, it’s like walking into a bakery you might find on the West side. To your right is a table stocked with freshly baked Korean style breads and buns, ready to be plucked up into your hot little hands. Beyond the tray of baked goods is a wooden banquette with café tables and orange Lucite chairs, beautiful Ooni glass light fixtures hanging delicately above each table. The overall aesthetics is very clean and has a minimalist feeling that’ll make you feel relaxed as you enjoy a delicious piece of cake or bun.
Eat Cake Café is the labor of love of owners Tricia Ting and Michael Lee. It is extremely apparent how much time and thought they put into every detail of their bakery. The napkins for example have three different sayings on them; “um, you’re drooling,” “mmm…nice lips” and “missed a spot!” Or the cute story of the kangaroo and his friend the porcupine stained into floor. Even the clear bags that the baked goods go into say “Yeah” on them!
The most important aspect of the bakery was picking the highest quality ingredients they could find to make their products with. They use 100% rice flour in their cakes, so they are gluten free. This is great news for all of you out there who have an allergy or intolerance to gluten. The cakes are moist and delicious and will have you coming back for more. The baked goods are made with a combination of rice and bread flour so they do contain gluten. They also use cage-free eggs and organic berries in their products.
So make your way down to Eat Cake Café today and have a slice of one of their signature cakes, the green tea cake made with pure Matcha Matcha green tea, or perhaps you can try a slice of the sweet potato cake. Make sure you pick up some baked goods to take home with you like the triangle toast or Soboro bun. And just so you know, 10% of your purchase will be donated to one of their charitable organizations they give to. One of them is Treasures of Africa.
