Be prepared for a unique and truly remarkable dining experience in a restaurant without walls.
Outstanding in the Field is an organization dedicated to uniting diners with the harvest of the land and rediscovering the true origins of the food that goes into their mouths. In doing so, they honor not only the tireless and hardworking farmers who cultivate that land, but also the food artisans who transfer it into the delicacies that make its way to the table.
On August 25, 2010, Millstone Farm in Wilton, CT will play host to a veritable feast of the fields during the Outstanding in the Field’s North American Tour 2010. Guests will converge upon the farm to dine in style as Chef Michel Nischan of the Dressing Room restaurant in Westport does the culinary honors and prepares a meal that will not soon be forgotten. Perhaps he will sample from the specialty sheep, cattle, pigs, lamb or heirloom turkeys that Millstone Farm raises. Whatever is on the menu, you can be assured that it will be an exceptional and delightful meal that is brought to the table.
And speaking of “table”, Outstanding in the Field’s signature long linen-clad table that sets these dinners apart from any other welcomes the culinary adventurist in all of us. Usually set up in a garden, on a farm, or some other open-air location (but also occasionally indoors), it allows diners to connect with the land from which the food was derived and truly dine at the source. Dinner will be served al fresco and family styled.
The cost of the Millstone Farm dinner is $225.00, which includes a tour of the farm, a five course meal along with wine pairings, discussions with producers and gratuities. Tickets go on sale at 12:00 p.m. Eastern time on Saturday, March 20, 2010 (the first day of spring), and can be purchased HERE at that time.
It’s never too early to contemplate a delectable meal. As select dinner locations usually sell out quickly (and who wouldn’t love to dine al fresco at Millhouse Farm), be sure to make your reservations now.
A portion of the proceeds will benefit Wholesome Wave Foundation, an organization “founded to make locally grown, healthy sustainable foods available to all communities”.
