Coco Pazzo Cafe
My favorite place for lasagna "anywhere" is transforming to lighter fare to embrace Spring and Summer. True to their Tuscan roots, Coco Pazzo Café will introduce a summer afternoon Alfresco menu when their popular outdoor patio opens up late spring. The new menu is short, and is designed to recreate the pleasure of a leisurely afternoon, sipping wine, while sharing a snack with friends or family.
The idea behind the Alfresco Afternoon menu is to encourage Chicagoans and tourists alike to relax, enjoy the summer, and take pleasure in the simpler, more affordable things in life. The new menu, in addition to the regular menu, will be offered from 2:30 to 5:00 p.m., 7 days a week. Over 15 selections of reasonably priced Italian wines by the glass, will also be available.
On the new menu, chef Eric Hammond will offer 5-6 varieties of plates of small bites meant for 2-3 people to share. On the top of the menu is the uncommon Tuscan treat, Tramezzini––petite, crust less sandwiches that could include Italian tuna with pesto; air-cured imported bresaola; baby arugula and Parmesan; and even savory egg salad. Also unique, will be a plate of Panino, which are small, grilled, flatbread sandwiches filled with choices of mozzarella, tomato and basil; as well as Proscuitto di Parma and arugula; portobello mushroom and smoked mozzarella; and Italian tuna with oven roasted tomatoes.
Chef Hammond will also include a “varietà (variety)” bruschetta plate that goes beyond the expected: ricotta and oven roasted tomato; goat cheese and sweet peppers; asparagus and Parmesan, mushrooms and truffle oil; smoked salmon, capers and onion; as well as tapenade with Pecorino.
Voted by Chicago Zagat as one of the best alfresco restaurants, the Café is open all afternoon and evening.
