According to Staples, it's "the most wonderful time of the year". In Calgary, the kids aren't the only ones starting school, as Willow Park resumes their Taste-Full Tuesdays classes in September. Downtown Calgary's hosting a 'going back' event that features food and shopping (coincidentally my two favourite things). There are various fall/harvest themed prix-fixe dinners cropping up on menus, and, since September's usually nicer than August, you might even get to enjoy one on a patio (fingers crossed)!
September 9 - 11: Tri-Annual Sale at Metrovino

September 9, 14, 20, 29: Guerilla Dining days downtown
A part of Downtown Calgary's Get Back to Style in September, people seen brown-bagging their lunch on these dates will be awarded a 'lunch upgrade' to restaurants including Ruth's Chris (which I've rated as 5 Stars - Noshing Nirvana)! The month-long event also includes fashion, beauty and cultural features.

September 13: Mushroom Harvest Wine Dinner
Sorrentino's, the Signal Hill restaurant that's a part of the Edmonton group of the same name, has recently been refreshed in a partnership with chef Giuseppe Di Gennaro of CAPO. The designation of September as Mushroom Harvest month long precedes that refresh though, and is a tradition in its 16th year. This evening features a multi-course meal paired with Antinori wines. $50/person.

September 15 - Early bird ticket deadline for Rocky Mountain Wine & Food Festival
Though its not technically an event in itself, this is your last chance to buy tickets at a savings of $2 - $15 off the regular price to the annual festival scheduled for October 14-16.
September 21: Taste-Full Tuesday class at Willow Park Wine & Spirits featuring Vintage Chophouse
It's no wonder that a wine dinner is a good fit with the food from Vintage. The restaurant itself has a Wine Spectator award in their trophy case. For this event, the pairings will be from Jackson Family Estates, home of the popular Kendall-Jackson wines. $65/person.

September 24: The 20-Yard Diet Harvest Dinner at SAIT
This first annual reception and dinner is being held as a fundraiser for the school's agro-literacy centre, the Culinary Garden (don't worry - the title link explains agro-literacy). Following a reception in the garden, a 5-course dinner will be served in the Highwood Dining Room, prepared by chefs synonymous with some of Calgary's most prestigious restaurants, including Scott Pohorelic (River Café) and Hayato Okamitsu (Catch). $125/person, must RSVP by September 13.
