With the start of a New Year, restaurants start to explore their options for new menu items for the New Year. In 2010 some of the restaurant trends consisted of Artisan pizza, small plates, cocktails, sustainability and communal tables.
So what are some of the predictions for menu trends in 2011?
Here are some of them according to National Restaurant Association…
- Locally sourced ingredients and sustainability- once again hits the top of the list
- Nutritionally balanced children’s dishes - fruit and vegetables as children’s side items
- “Hyper local’ - restaurants with their own gardens and chefs who do their own butchering
- Gluten-free food - along with food allergy conscious
- Back to the basics
