From martinis and champagne to infused vodka and wine, the Prime Rib in Baltimore boasts extensive drink menus and people are taking notice. In the most recent issues of Baltimore and Wine Spectator magazines, the Jewel of Russia martini and the restaurant’s wine list earned distinctions as the best in not only Baltimore city, but also the entire country.

In the August 31 issue of Wine Spectator magazine, the Prime Rib’s wine list received an “Award of Excellence” and was listed in the issue as having one of the best wine lists in the country. Wine Spectator’s “Restaurant Wine List Awards” recognizes restaurants whose wine lists offer interesting selections, are appropriate to their cuisine and appeal to a wide range of wine lovers. The “Award of Excellence” is given to restaurants with lists that offer a well-chosen selection of quality producers, along with a thematic match to the menu in both price and style. The Prime Rib’s current wine list offers a selection of more than 250 wines including imports and those from vineyards throughout the states.

In addition to an award winning wine list, the Prime Rib’s cocktail list is attracting some attention. Baltimore magazine recently recognized the Prime Rib’s Jewel of Russia martini as the best “Splurge!” cocktail in the “Best of Baltimore” August issue. Served in a chilled glass with a choice of olives, onions or tomolives, the Jewel of Russia “is the most seamless tasting vodka you’ll ever sip” according to the staff at the magazine. The “Best of Baltimore” issue features an anthology of the best shopping, services, food, fun, arts, and media in Baltimore—all selected by the editors and staff at the magazine—and serves as a household resource for Charm City residents throughout the year.

The Jewel of Russia martini and a variety of other cocktails, including wine, are available every evening at the Prime Rib’s bar and in the dining room. Additionally, every Sunday night, the Prime Rib offers a half-price wine list consisting of wines from the award-winning list.

The Prime Rib was founded in 1965 by famed restaurateur Buzz Beler who later opened restaurants in Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. Over the years, the Prime Rib has earned numerous awards including Best of Baltimore by Baltimore magazine, a Zagat rating as the #1 steakhouse in Baltimore, D.C. and Philadelphia, one of the top five romantic restaurants in the U.S. by Food and Wine magazine, and an Award of Excellence from Wine Spectator magazine.
