I've been to PJ's Coffee House in Atlantic Station before, but it wasn't until last night that I knew it doubled as a lounge in the evening.
I walked in on the hunt for a slice of cheesecake, which is a whole different article in its entirety, but there I stood at the counter staring into the abyss of the display case when out of nowhere the lights dimmed down so low I thought they may have turned them off. I glanced at the time, 7:35 p.m. It seemed like an odd time to close, so I asked,
"Are you guys closing?"
The guy at the counter responded,
"No, we turn into a lounge after a certain time," He paused and then continued matter-of-factly,
"We don't close until around 2 a.m."
Nice plan, I thought to myself as I looked over to find a full bar adjacent to the display case my eyes had been affixed upon a few seconds earlier. There was room at the bar to sit and enjoy a drink, as well as comfy leather couches to lounge on.
Now, not only was I looking for a piece of cheesecake, I was also trying to process the business plan that PJ's Coffee had come up with. It's a genius idea: Two addictive offerings rolled into one business seemed fail proof.
I eventually ordered a piece of White Chocolate Raspberry cheesecake and took a seat on one of the couches. The dessert wasn't perfect, but it was better than some I've had. It wasn't too rich, which always seems to be the demise of most cheesecakes, but it wasn't as light and fluffy as I like.
While I was sitting, I noticed a flyer for a hot dog or hamburger combo with a beer for only $5. I was impressed, with both the deal and again with the business plan.
PJ's Coffee has several locations throughout metro Atlanta. Check it out for breakfast and dinner.
