Satellite Coffee - Now Serving Food

A little leery of a coffee place serving food? I certainly feel that way. A couple times in desperation I’ve bought sandwiches and other items at coffee places to find the food bland, stale or otherwise disgusting.

When Satellite announced they would have a real food menu I thought there was at least a chance of good eats. Satellite is owned by Flying Star, one of my favorite places to eat. But could they do food well?

So far, my verdict is yes. In need of a jolt of caffeine for lunch I stopped by Satellite and was intrigued by the toasted cheese sandwich (and a small bag of carrots) for only $2.99. It has three cheeses – Havarti, Cheddar, and Muenster. My descriptions: Yummy, crunchy, cheesy, hot, and delicious.

I also stopped in for breakfast recently and tried the rise and shine. Egg, green chile-turkey sausage, cheddar cheese, on an English muffin. It came out hot and fresh, as if I had gotten it at Flying Star.

Vegetarian options on the lunch menu include the fresh salad wrap – with tomatoes, cucumber, lettuce, jicama, white cheddar, special spread in a tortilla. Or the served warm sandwich, Eastern Veggie Melt with smashed garbanzo beans and olive hummus, melted pesto-marinated mozzarella, artichoke hearts, basil leaves and red bell pepper on foccacia.

So, I say no worries. Have your coffee and lunch too!
