Saratoga chef rejoins reborn 'Dinner Impossible' host

SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY -- Robert Irvine's exile from the Food Network series "Dinner Impossible" lasted exactly one season. When he returns this year, he'll be bringing an Upstate chef back with him.

David Britton, (right) the celebrated chef/owner of Springwater Bistro in Saratoga Springs, will be rejoining the briefly-disgraced Irvine for at least a six-episode run that begins filming in March.

The show's premise is that Irvine and his assistants are given a difficult task -- such as feeding hundreds of people at once and having poor equipment and bad weather to battle -- to perform in a short time.

Irvine had been replaced by Michael Symon after it was found his fudge recipe wasn't palatable. To explain: Irvine was found to have fudged some of his credentials that got him hired by the Food Network. When he was found out, he was fired. A public apology helped repair the situation.

A Food Network spokesman told the Associated Press: "Our audience has continued to demonstrate its interest in and support for Robert. He has taken responsibility and made a conscious effort to clear the air, rebuild his relationship with Food Network and apologize for the earlier inaccuracies."

Notes on Napkins: You can see excerpts from various reviews of Britton's Springwater Bistro by clicking here. ... And, you can read the story from last March about Irvine's dismissal as reported by the snarky folks at Gawker.com. ...  Fakery in the food world isn't confined to Irvine. Scottish celebrity chef James Stocks resigned in shame from the highly-regarded Balbenie House after padding his resume. And, the Village Voice in NYC picked apart the "Iron Chef" TV show in an article that is a must-read on what goes on behind the scenes.

    Great reporting. Who's Irving?

Irving? I don't see any Irving? I deny that I mistyped Irvine's surname several times in my haste to get the latest news to you then went back and fixed the typos after you posted your question. So there.
