BINGHAMTON, NY -- "Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In" would have been so proud.
The late-'60s/early '70s TV satirical variety show that popularized the line "Sock it to me" is long gone. But the spirit lives on in a new Asian-inspired restaurant called Sake-Tumi.
The two-story restaurant, located at 71 Court Street in the former site of Coffee Talk and Buffy’s Burritos, is serving both lunch and dinner. It is owned by Christine Pasquale and Andrew Urso, two of the owners of the Rathskeller Pub that is so popular with Binghamton University students and faculty.
Sake-Tumi offers such dishes as miso-bronzed black cod and Tokyo mini burgers, which have a soy glaze, wasabi mayonnaise and other toppings. It also as a sushi bar.
The restaurant started serving a daily lunch special on Monday featuring soup, salad, sushi and spring rolls for $9.50, Pasquale said.
The restaurant serves until 10 p.m. but will stay open later once it gets its liquor license, which is pending.
