ITHACA, NY -- The little guy topped the competition in this year's version of the annual Cornell University "Battle of the Late Night Foods."
The event, which this year drew 1,500 students to Willard Straight Hall, pitted a variety of late-night local eateries against each other to determine which was the students' favorite for late-night snacking.
To participate, an establishment had to have been able to provide 1,500 samples and to regularly operate until 1 a.m. or later.
This year’s field included That Burrito Place, Domino's Pizza, The Connection, Jack’s Grill, Jimmy John’s, AAwesome Wings & Cheesesteak, and Insomnia Cookies.
The winner: Insomnia Cookies, with last year's runnerup, the gourmet sandwich shop Jimmy John's, once again finishing second. The 2008 winner, Moe's, was not entered this year.
The winning restaurant received a plaque, its name at the bottom of every e-mail sent to the Cornell community and free magnets with order information for students.
