If you're looking to savor good food and enjoy good times, then The Cellar in Blacksburg is the place for you.
The Cellar is situated in the heart of downtown Blacksburg at 302 North Main St., only minutes from the Virginia Tech campus. The upper level of The Cellar houses a restaurant with a family-friendly atmosphere that hosts live music every Tuesday and Thursday night. The restaurant also makes the perfect cozy joint for treating a date to pizza or a pasta dish.
Looking for more of a "pub" scene? Head around the corner and down the stairs to the place's namesake cellar area. Once there, you can sit at the bar or the surprisingly large number of tables and stalls. Don't forget to check out the history of the bar's patrons, scratched out in footnotes all along the wood paneled walls.
The beer, wine, and mixed drink menus at The Cellar leave little to be desired. For the adventurous, there is also a "Luck of the Draw" beer option available. For only $1.00 you can get a random beer delivered to your table. If luck is on your side, you might end up with a Killian's Irish Red; if not, expect something more along the lines of a Busch.
Whether you eat in the restaurant or the bar, the pizza and pasta will invariably taste delicious and fresh. The garlic bread comes with an optional cheese topping (for a treat, try feta). The Cellar also offers subs and a few Greek food options. However, stay away from anything that doesn't sound Greek or Italian; some of the more exotic appetizers aren't quite as good as The Cellar's excellent standard fare.
