Complexions Spa takes Beauty, Wellness and the Environment seriously. Located in Albany, New York I corresponded with owner, Denise Dubois after I published the “LEED Certified Spas” article.

Everything the Complexions Spa does is with intention from the creation of its menu, services offered, products used and the building itself.
Denise Dubois, owner and developer with more than 20 years experience as a clinical esthetician opened Complexions brand new facility in May 2009, as one of the first new construction energy-efficient day spas in the nation.
Complexions Spa for Beauty & Wellness is the first spa to be awarded a GOLD LEED Certification for New Construction by the US Green Building Council. LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, which is a rating system created by the U.S. Green Building Council to help companies design, build, and operate their structures more sustainably.
An amazing feat for a single operation and a small team.
So, how did she do it?
Denise said, “Everything we did from the ground up was done in an effort to be the most Eco-Friendly spa as possible and to achieve our dream of becoming certified at the Gold Level. From the demolition of the old building to the finishing touches of our 8,500 square foot spa with paint, cork flooring, and no VOC wallpapers. It doesn't just stop with our building...the services and products we use support our philosophy as well.”
