Forbes.com recently published a list of the fastest-recovering cities across the country, looking at unemployment rates, GMP (which measures a city's economy), foreclosures, home prices and sales rates. The results show that the cities recovering fastest, which may be where consumers should be looking for a job and a home, tend to have diversified industries feeding the economy. In addition, the areas which did the best never saw wild swings in the value of homes.
The complete list covers the 100 largest MSA's (Metropolitan Statistical Areas). Here are the top ten fastest-recovering cities:
1. Omaha/Council Bluffs, Nebraska
2. San Antonio, Texas
3. Austin-Round Rock, Texas
4. Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
5. Harribsurg/Carlisle, Pennsylvania
6. Dallas/Forth Worth, Texas
7. Rochester, New York
8. Houston, Texas
9. Raleigh/Cary, North Carolina
10. Baton Rouge, Louisiana
