You've been busy shopping, haven't you? Need to relax and don't know what to do?
How does a night at the theatre sound? The perfect evening out is waiting for you at the Ford Center/Oriental Theatre at 24 East Randolph Street.
Now through January 10 Bebe Neuwirth and Nathan Lane are Morticia and Gomez Adams in The Addams Family. Visit Broadway in Chicago for Tickets
The production is amazing, the direction, well, simply perfection. The highlight is seeing Bebe Neuwirth in her element. Now previewing this production in Chicago before it makes its Broadway debut leads one to ponder, if the amazing Bebe Neuwirth lived in Chicago, where would she take up residence?
Bebe Neuwirth was born on December 31, 1958 in Princeton, New Jersey and began studying ballet at the age of 5. Studying at the Julliard in New York paved the way for future performances in Peter and the Wolf and The Nutcracker. Under the direction of the legendary Bob Fosse, Neuwirth made her Broadway debut in A Chorus Line. She went on to win a Tony award for her performance in Sweet Charity as well as for her portrayal of Velma Kelly in Chicago.
Nice segue, right?
So, if Neuwirth were to settle down in Chicago there is one place so special and unique it is as if it were built with her in mind.
Joffrey Tower.
Located in the Loop and completed in 2008 and located in the heart of the Theatre District, Joffrey Tower, 8 East Randolph - corner of State and Randolph - is surrounded by the Goodman, Chicago, Oriental Theatre's, the fashionable Wit Hotel, shopping at Macy's and Block 37, dining at Petterino's, Catch 35, McCormick's & Schmick's and a quick walk to Millennium Park, Park Grill and the Chicago Cultural Center.
Being surrounded by the other theatres isn't what makes Joffrey Tower so perfect for Neuwirth, it is the fact that the Joffrey Ballet not only acquired the naming rights to the building but also purchased 45,000 square feet of space on the 3rd and 4th floor and is now the company's permanent home.
On any given day you can stand across the street and watch dancers practice in any one of the 7 state of the art rehearsal studios complete with floor to ceiling windows! Check out this great photo from INSIDE the rehearsal room looking out!

Wow! What an amazing career and what an amazing location. Love those floor to ceiling windows!
Got to ask you, is Joffrey one of those blackballed buildings that lenders won't touch?
