And that is lowballing it.

President Obama’s energy tax plan -- a version of the failed European “cap and trade” global warming fiasco -- may cost families $1,800 yearly in higher utility bills, far exceeding his promised $800 a year tax cut for 95% of Americans.
While campaigning, Obama admitted that his energy plan would cause electric bills to “skyrocket.”
And lest you think this is partisan spin, the baseline figures are from Obama's own people.
Obama’s official budget claims that his proposed energy tax would add $646 billion to energy costs over 8 years. But that’s low-balling it.
As the Washington Times reported:
President Obama's climate plan could cost industry close to $2 trillion, nearly three times the White House's initial estimate of the so-called "cap-and-trade" legislation, according to Senate staffers who were briefed by the White House. . . . At the meeting, Jason Furman, a top Obama staffer, estimated that the president's cap-and-trade program could cost up to three times as much as the administration's early estimate of $646 billion over eight years.
Put another way, Furman estimates the cap-and-trade scheme will cost, on average, $250 billion annually. That estimate must be taken seriously because Furman is deputy director of Obama’s National Economic Council.
Obama says that these new taxes, which they do not dispute, will be partially offset by tax cuts of $800.00 for 95% of households (and yes, that is another phony use of "tax cut" which is actually a welfare check redistributed from taxpayers to the 42% of Americans who pay no taxes). And even then, everybody is still out at least $1,000.00 per year. All to pay for the hoax of Global Warming.
Is this what people who voted for Obama wanted?

More and more scientists and thinking people all over the world are realizing that man-made global warming is a hoax that threatens our future and the future of our children. The over 700 dissenting international scientists that just met in New York are now more than 13 times the number of UN scientists (52) who authored the media-hyped IPCC 2007 Summary for Policymakers.
Additionally, 32,000 American scientists have signed onto a petition that states, "There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gases is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth’s atmosphere and disruption of the Earth’s climate…"
"Progressive" (communist) politicians like Obama seem determined to force us to swallow the man-made global warming scam. We need to defend ourselves from the UN and these politicians, who threaten our future and the future of our children. Based on a lie, they have already wasted billions and plan to increase taxes, limit development, and enslave us.
If not stopped, the global warming scam will enrich the scammers (Gore and Obama’s Wall Street friends), increase the power of the U.N. and communists like Obama, and multiply poverty and servitude for the rest of us.
I have a degree in Earth Science and understand much of this logic behind claims of global warming. While earning my degree, I learned good science involves being highly skeptical; all is to be questioned and tested to be sure of correctness.
There is good logic behind this notion of global warming but I am not convinced about long term projections, both backwards in time and forwards in time. Personally, I lean more towards these global changes being contributed to natural cycles of Mother Nature. We have contributed to these changes, rates of change, but I doubt we are completely responsible for these changes we observe. In the absence of humankind, these changes would still take place, albeit at a different rate of change.
Nonetheless, there is no doubt humankind is making a mess of our Earth. We are destroying our Earth but I believe our demise will be other than global warming. My belief is we will eventually starve ourselves to death through population growth and loss of food productive land.
We can all agree we need to address this mess we are making. This global warming notion is not our only problem.
A focus only on global warming will cause more harm than good. Dramatic and extreme measures to address global warming will probably prove to be very destructive for humankind.
As a world peoples, we can slowly address many of these problems, we can gradually phase in measures to end our destruction of Mother Nature. We cannot afford to take dramatic "overnight" measures without harm and, most certainly, not before making sure we are right.
We are already seeing massive tax increases at a state level around our nation. Toss in Bill Dupray's average $1800 per year energy tax along with many other "backdoor" taxes being imposed by Obama, this is a recipe for economic disaster, and we are already suffering a Great Depression II.
So much money will go to paying direct and indirect taxes, so much money will be wasted on welfare, we will have no money left to be used to address environmental needs. In this way, we will increase and accelerate our destruction of Mother Nature and, in turn, Mother Nature will destroy us.
Obama's massive government, his massive tax increases, his massive welfare America, this is the worst possible choice we can make related to protecting Mother Nature.
While we are all living in the Poor House, we cannot afford to buy shovels then go out lend a helping hand to Mother Nature.

Here is a classic example of how a welfare nation contributes to both global warming and destruction of Mother Nature.
Here in California, for a number of decades, we are suffering outbreaks of giant wild fires. This is happening to many other states.
Obama and ACORN, Clinton, Bush, all politicians on both sides of the aisle, for decades, pushed through legislation which mandated home loans be made to people who cannot afford to buy homes. Credit was made far too easy, at all levels. As you know, this led to today's economic crisis. All of us are to blame.
This housing boom led to abhorrent encroachment upon wildlands. Animals lost their natural habitats and now are moving into our neighbors in search of food. We are killing those animals further disrupting Mother Nature's ways; no control of growth of vegetation through grazing animals. No control of grazing animals through loss of predators.
This housing boom and encroachment into wilderness areas led to extreme efforts by governments to control wild fires. This, in turn, led to accelerating growth of underbrush, led to creosote laden old growth brush, areas of growth thirty years old, fifty years old. This is not natural. Mother Nature periodically ignites wild fires to control this brush growth. A spin-off on this is an explosion in population of bark boring insects which kill both brush and trees. This causes tinderbox conditions.
Did you know some varieties of pine trees require ground level fires to cause their seeds to germinate? No fire, no new pine trees.
Where does all this smoke, soot and ash from wildfires end up? In our atmosphere, of course. This lends to global warming. This is well studied and well verified.
We taxpayers invest billions of dollars to prevent wildfires for no reason other than to protect cookie cutter neighborhoods built into wilderness areas because of our housing boom which is contributed directly to laws mandating loans to unqualified borrowers.
Welfare efforts by bleeding heart liberals gave us a financially unsupported housing boom which led to death of animals, destruction of Mother Nature, massive outbreaks of wildfires and, eventually, our current economic crisis.
This is what bleeding heart left liberal agents of welfare bring us; destruction of Mother Nature and destruction of American families. I submit a liberal agenda will destroy us all, including Mother Nature.
Mother Nature's rule is Survival of the Fittest. Handing out welfare checks, rendering America a welfare nation, is not Survival of the Fittest. We are killing Mother Nature, we are killing ourselves through be bleeding hearts of welfare.
Our best intentions almost always are what causes us the greatest harm. We humans are quite the ignorant lot.
I say government needs to get out of our lives, to get out of our way and allow Survival of the Fittest to rule. Some will survive, some will not. This is Mother Nature's rule and way.

While I am on a rant here, while I am taking advantage of Bill's blog with a hope uninformed people will drop in and read, a bit more on this.
Currently, global warming, agents of cause of global warming, all are lessening.
Why?
Reason for this is around our world manufacturing is all but idle. Manufacturing plants which produce goods we buy are either slowed down, idle or shut down for good.
Smokestacks are not spewing out crap into our air, waste pipes are not pumping out crap onto our land and into our rivers, significantly less cars are on our roads spewing out pollutants through tailpipes.
Our economic crisis is cleaning up our act for us. We, all of us around our world, are behaving as we should; conservative.
Previously I write, "Credit was made far too easy, at all levels."
What did this easy credit cause?
Easy credit led Americans and western peoples, many Third World peoples, to go off on an insane spending spree, as Obama is doing now.
We purchased big energy wasteful cookie cutter homes, swimming pools, spas, gas guzzling SUV trucks and Hummers. We purchased motorcycles, jet skis, ATV toys, ski boats, house boats, RV vehicles along with second and third cars.
All of those toys are now worthless.
We purchased fashionable clothes, fancy jewelry, Rolex watches, plasma televisions, home theaters, lavish furniture and pink flamingoes for our front yards.
All of those accessories are now worthless.
Wall Street greed ran rampant. Government spending reached insane levels. Our personal spending levels, through easy credit, led all of us to be even more insane about our spending.
All of our money is now worthless.
Most Americans now have no money.
Nobody, almost none of us even considered saving money for rainy days. Almost all of us made a freewill choice to be in debt over our heads.
Today, America is a nation of lazy fat people. Offended are you? Too bad. About two-thirds of Americans, children and adult alike, range from fat to morbidly obese. Fat is caused by being lazy. This easy credit led us to stuffing our faces with pizza and beer, while our idle butts became enormous.
Our big butts are now worthless.
Over our many years, our family chose to be financially responsible. We are conservative, we are frugal. Our family is not worthless although my butt is bigger than what I would like my butt to be.
What does this have to do with global warming?
Our wild spending spree led companies to not be able to keep up with demand. Commerce and industry kicked into overdrive and still could not keep up with our easy credit spending spree. Smokestacks spewed pollutants, waste pipes spewed crap, refineries spewed toxic waste, and we drove big fancy cars while spewing out pollutants, all of which contributed to global warming.
Prices of goods skyrocketed. Those goods are now worthless as are our cookie cutter homes.
We are at fault because of our being financially irresponsible.
This financial crisis is the best "thing" which could happen to teach people to be conservative and this financial crisis is lessening global warming.
Obama is spending trillions of dollars as if money grows on trees. Obama is not using easy credit which previously destroyed us. Obama is simply printing funny money, Monopoly Game money which is not backed by tangible collateral.
What will this cause?
Hold your noses, those smokestacks, waste pipes and tailpipes are about to take to spewing out crap again, afforded by an irresponsible wild spending spree by Obama.
Momma! We got our welfare check today. Let's go buy some pink flamingoes!
I hope people will not take to buying pink flamingoes for their front yards again; those are tacky, are cheesy. I don't like those.
