Ron Paul headed to Richmond for Tea Party

Congressman Ron Paul headed to Richmond for Tea Party

High profile libertarian Republican Dr. Ron Paul is headed to Richmond for the inaugural Virginia Tea Party Convention to be held in October.
Richmond Tea Party President, Jamie Radtke, made the announcement Monday afternoon on Doc Thompson’ afternoon radio show on WRVA. Radtke is also part of the leadership team of the Virginia Tea Party Patriots Federation which is hosting the event at the Greater Richmond Convention Center.
Doc Thompson is an advocate of the Tea Party movement and active in the Richmond Tea Party emceeing the Tax Day Tea Party in April and fundraisers and other events.
Representative Paul is undoubtedly nation’s leading advocate for freedom in Washington, D.C. and works for the ideals of limited, constitutional government, low taxes, free markets and a return to sound monetary policies. Dr. Paul never votes for legislation unless the proposed measure is expressly authorized by the Constitution earning him the title 'Dr. No.’
Despite often voting against his Republican colleagues over his years in Congress he is well respected on both sides of the aisle. His consistent voting record prompted one of his colleagues to say, “Ron Paul personifies the Founding Fathers’ ideal of the citizen-statesman. He makes it clear his principles will never be compromised, and they never are.” Another observed, “There are few people in public life who, through thick and thin, rain or shine, stick to their principles. Ron Paul is one of those few.”
Mrs. Radtke told the Richmond Republican Examiner late last week before Dr. Paul confirmed his attendance that organizers had invited a number of high-profile advocates of Tea Party principles and were hoping for a positive response.
The confirmation of Dr. Paul’s attendance is considered a major ‘coup’ and will undoubtedly draw even larger numbers to the inaugural Convention to be held October 8 and 9, 2010.
Mrs. Radtke said “Early Bird” tickets are available until the end of July with all information available on the website. Tickets were available up to the beginning of the Convention or until sold out.

Virginia Attorney General and Tea Party favorite, Ken Cuccinelli, is also confirmed for the event which includes a “Freedom Lovers Extravaganza” and policy break-out sessions. A  Presidential Straw Poll will be conducted towards the end of the Convention. Dr. Paul won an earlier such poll at the CPAC Convention in Washington D.C. held in February shocking the Republican Party establishment. Dr. Paul has previously ran for President on the Libertarian Party’s ticket and in the Republican primaries for the 2008 Presidential election beaten out by eventual GOP nominee Senator John McCain.
 Congressman Ron Paul’s Record includes:
  • He has never voted to raise taxes.
  • He has never voted for an unbalanced budget.
  • He has never voted for a federal restriction on gun ownership.
  • He has never voted to raise congressional pay.
  • He has never taken a government-paid junket.
  • He has never voted to increase the power of the executive branch.
  • He voted against the Patriot Act.
  • He voted against regulating the Internet.
  • He voted against the Iraq war.
  • He does not participate in the lucrative congressional pension program.
  • He returns a portion of his annual congressional office budget to the U.S. treasury every year.

Yes, I was recently turned on to Ron Paul & I must say, I have never in all my years observing politics, seen a statesman (or woman) who personifies what the founding fathers invisioned as a defender of the people's liberties such as he. Fiscally he understands more than the rest of congress put together, about how we got to this current situation (collapse) and he rightly puts the blame on the Federal Reserve policies of easy credit, and corporatism (government in bed with corporations). This plagues America's demostic & foreign policy. He can debate anyone who wishes to with complete understanding of why he beleives what he does...and it is always based in "natural law" & the fidelity to the Constitution. There is not one person alive today, who defends the principles enshrined in the Constitution like Ron Paul. He is the real deal ! Go Ron! Libertad!!!

Paul will go in and show them what a real tea party is about. No name calling, no negativity, no political grandstanding - just honest and unbiased facts on the policies that affect our country.

I had the most wonderful dinner with Dr. Paul, his wife and son many, many years ago - I only wish I knew then what I know now. If America is to be saved it ...we shall be saved by Dr. Ron Paul. It just comes down to adherence to our Consitution - its that simple.

This is a direct quote from Dawn Holmes of the Petersburg Department of Tourism that she sent to me when I tried to help them prevent derogatory information about Petersburg being posted on Doc Thompson's Facebook page. Doc Thompson is a semi-leader of the Tea Party in Richmond. The Terms of Service for Facebook do not permit this type of attack on a group of people:

"Petersburg has many problems just like millions of other cities that have essentially become 'welfare' or 'unemployement' centers. When the tobacco industry died so did cities such as Richmond and Petersburg - it is not the city that is at fault, it is the misuse of a system that was designed to help those in need until they could get back on their feet but has for several generations been used as a lifestyle. A work force is needed - find a way to offer work to those those willing to work the opportunity to do so - stop feeding the parasites. If a person is not willing to work why does the taxpayer have to take care of them? Taxpayers should be ashamed that they enable a government to pay children to have children - its a crime which perpetuates itself."

However, I was surprised to learn that the USA had millions of cities, let alone millions that she alleges are this terrible.

Dawn Holmes made this response to me when I notified her of the post on Doc Thomson's Facebook page. Doc is the local "shock jock" on WRVA 1140 AM and 700WLW Radio in Cincinnati, Ohio. This is the post on Doc's page:

Chad Quella: Petersburg, The Worst Part of Virginia
What a festering hellhole. A region rich in American history and a once-vibrant center of transportation and industry now is spoiled by the giant stain of Petersburg smack in the middle of it. Present-day Petersburg is an astounding monument to what happens after decades of progressive government and entitlement mentality populace get together to overwhelm individual responsibility and affluence.

Baradost What a terrible thing to say! I have been to the historic section and found it very interesting. Saturday at 10:43pm

Chad Quella: We're glad you enjoyed your visit and even more glad you made it out of Petersburg alive. The frequent murders, rapes, robberies, horrible schools, unemployment, drug abuse and prostitution were perhaps not included in your tour.

By the way, for all the slinging around terms like "racist" and "bigot" that "Social Justice" a.k.a. Sabet Baradost does, she seems to have a flair for bigotry herself, more specifically, antisemitism. Here is a post she made on Doc Thompson's Facebook page:
    "Sabet Baradost
Cantor is loyal to only one country - and it is not the US.
    November 30, 2010 at 5:05pm"
Just what do you suppose she meant by that?
