Happy Birthday Mr. President.

Tomorrow, August 4, is President Barack Obama’s birthday.

Last week, the House of Representatives voting 378 to zero passed a measure marking August 21 2009 as the 50^th anniversary of Hawaii’s statehood. Rightly so.

The Bill also noted Barack Hussein Obama’s birth in Hawaii on August 4 1961 and a “yes” vote backed HR 593 which even actually drew support from Republicans who question the President’s citizenship.

This past week we have witnessed a phenomenon; that is The Birthers.

Given that tomorrow is the President’s birthday should we be questioning his constitutional right to be president as eligible under Article 2, Section 1 of the United States Constitution to hold the office of President of the United States?

The President, who is well known for voting “present.” That’s not a ‘yes’ and it’s not a ‘no’. It’s a maybe; it’s non committal. Hillary brought this up in the debates but that’s ancient history.

So what to get the President who votes ‘present’ for his birthday present?

Perhaps a legitimate birth certificate? Framed of course.

Conspiracy theorists and Obama haters are in a lather over the issue that Obama was not born in Hawaii but, indeed, born in Africa in a country now known as Kenya. Dreams from my father indeed. Does it matter?

Yes.

This matter does not seem to be going away anytime soon. Certain sections of the media; pundits, commentators, columnists and all the rest are not giving up on the fact that Obama is not qualified to be President. This is not based on the fact that he had the thinnest resume of anyone seriously running for Commander in Chief, but the question of ‘is he even eligible?’

The publication Human Events, (incidentally Ronald Reagan’s favorite publication) reports the following:

By the way, the issue of the Occidental College records is especially pertinent. The United States Justice Foundation (USJF) served officials at Occidental College with a subpoena to produce records concerning Barack Obama's attendance there during the 1980's, because those records could document whether he was attending as a foreign national. You see, Mr. Obama attended the school on a scholarship -- and there are questions as to whether the financial aid he received was reserved for foreign students. The Obama attorneys have bent over backward to block us. He doesn't want anyone to see those records. He's STILL trying to hide them; those financial records STILL have not been released.”

The question is…. Is Barack Obama doing a good job? Is he liable to be re-elected? Do we have Hope and Change We Can Believe In?

If it turns out Obama is not US born, so be it, but what message will that send to the rest of America let alone the world? We cannot even vet our own President? Half of his potential Cabinet appointees fell by the wayside due to myriad tax and other violations but Obama sits in the Oval Office. He was elected; like it or not.
