Last week someone paid $63,500 on eBay for dinner with Sarah Palin.
The bidding started at a remarkable $25,000 and escalated to the final figure.
The left wing blogosphere went nuts calling it a shallow publicity stunt, saying they would expect more than just dinner with the former Governor (wink wink), and asking who would like to have dinner with the biggest bimbo on planet Earth.
These same bloggers unanimously failed to mention that Mrs. Palin is doing it for charity, not personal publicity. The auction’s proceeds go to the charity Ride2Recovery which is an organization promoting cycling as a means to physical and mental rehabilitation for wounded veterans.
The bidding war for the dinner was made even more interesting with a friend and foe scenario in which the dinner may have had an awkward ending for the former Governor. Journalist Joe McGuiness looked like an early frontrunner and at one stage was ahead with a bid of just over $60,000. Mr. McGuiness is the author of an uncomplimentary article called “Pipe Dreams” in Portfolio. He has also penned an upcoming and unauthorized biography called “Sarah Palin’s Year of Living Dangerously.
In the end a fan won the dinner date paying the $63,500 tab on Friday. Cathy Maples of Hunstville, Ala., who owns a defense contracting company, says she is a “big advocate” for Palin and wants to see her as President. Ms. Maples also says she is a strong supporter of the military men and women fighting for this nation. Read the local newspaper’s article here.
Organizers say Ms. Maples will have the foot the travel bill to meet dine with Palin. Both are allowed to bring three guests. Cathy Maples says she will take her two grandchildren and a girlfriend on the trip and Palin is likely to be accompanies by the former First Dude, Todd.
One person who will not be at the table will be Levi Johnston.

What a doo doo head. Sarah Palin does not represent the average American women, quite the opposite. She will never be elected as President as she is too far left and their are too many special interest groups that do not want to see her in office. She couldn't even take a little back biting from the media as governor without picking up her toys and running. What in the heck does she think she would do with criticisms like Pres. Obama have received...get mad and run! She's too unpredictable.
Sarah's speech in Hong Kong was the speech of a leader. Obama then kissed dictator a*s at the UN conf. in Pittsburgh.
By 2012, she is gonna so defeat him. She is the anti-Obama.
