Sanford resignation shouldn't distract people from the issues

It's another day of rough waters for the GOP as Governor Mark Sanford of South Carolina resigns as head of the Republican Governors Association amid talk of an affair. Sanford was reported missing over the weekend by his wife. He was speculated to be first "taking a break", then hiking, and now it turns out he was in Argentina.

That said, we in the GOP cannot allow the press and the Democrats to shift focus from what's important for the country. Cap and Trade, known to most on the right as "Cap and Tax" is looming. Tonight President Obama will take over ABC to send his healthcare message, and ABC is not allowing dissenting messages on its airwaves.

Sanford, a rising star within the GOP and a fierce opponant of the Stimulus spending, will remain Governor of South Carolina, at least for the time being.

His affair is an embarrassment to the party, but even more so to his family, and we must think of them before we hurl invective at Sanford. We must also keep in mind that extramarital affairs in politics are nothing new, though it is highly unlikely Sanford will be treated with the kid gloves used to handle the revelation of John Edwards' love child.

Let's try to stay focused on the issues at hand: Out of control government spending, the impending nationalization of health care, and the further loss of industry in America due to carbon restrictions.

For more info: At the time of this posting, Governor Sanford's website was down.

John Edwards' party doesn't wrap itself in the "family values" flag.
To help you understand: a man stands up and gets hit in the face with a tomato...people ask if he is alright.
Same man is a loudmouth and stands up and gets hit in the face with a tomato...people are the floor laughing.
If republicans will stop being loudmouths about their party being the party of "family values", then people will not be so ready to watch them get caught being hypocrites. Hypocrisy is the difference. Hypocrisy is the only reason for the difference in reactions to someone getting caught being human. Hypocrisy is the only reason that YOU are blind to the difference.

"John Edwards' party doesn't wrap itself in the "family values" flag."

    HaaHaaHaa LMAO!!

A rapest doesn't wrap himself up in the "women are good" flag.
Bill Clinton doesn't wrap himself up in the "family values" flag.
Congressman William Jefferson doesn't wrap himself up in the "bribes are bad" flag.

Does that excuse it for them?

That gets the Asinine Comment of the year award.

It's not that act that's shameful, it's the hypocrisy of that action. It's my hypothesis that the conservative mindset doesn't allow for empathy and therefore also doesn't recognize hypocrisy. The republicans can whine all they want about their "morals", the truth is nobody cares. It sure is funny to see them writhe and blame and gnash and cry though!

"happy indep" attempts to paint me as a homosexual...nice...keep it up republicans, please keep marginalizing yourselves, keep digging that hole!

Anyway, it was my understanding that Mr. Sanford and his wife had agreed on a split up, why should I judge their relationship? Oh, that's right, I don't judge others based on their own personal relationships! That's only for "holier than thou" conservatives...that's okay, it is a serious mental condition, but treatable...

If these clowns have no problem lying to their wives and families, imagine how they feel about lying to everyone else.

Clinton says "Oh, that's right, I don't judge others based on their own personal relationships!" and then goes on to do EXACTLY THAT!

And he talks of others "holier than thou" attitude.

From his mouth WITHOUT a teleprompter!

This bill is being touted as the Obama bill.

“The problem is can you get the American people to say this is really important and force their representatives to do the right thing, that requires mobilizing a citizenry…..
Under my plan of a cap and trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket even regardless of what I say about whether coal is good or bad, because I’m capping greenhouse gasses, coal power plants, natural gas you name it whatever the plants were, whatever the industry was, they would have to retro-fit their operations, that will cost money and they will pass that money onto the consumers.”

Kerry, Boxer: U.S. ‘Needs’ Cap-and-Trade on Carbon Emissions Even if Energy Costs Rise

    www.cnsnews.com/public/Content/Article.aspx?rsrcid=45330

“It’s a win-win in so many different ways, we can’t afford not to do it,” Kerry said.“There could be some (price) increases,” Kerry admitted, adding that the “costs of doing nothing could be greater,” including a decline in the food supply. “But there’ll be higher rises if we don’t do it and start to curb these emissions because you’re going to pay more for the adaptations, the loss of food, all the other problems that come along with it.”

Boxer also acknowledged that energy prices will rise.
“In the short run, in the transition, there’s always an up-tick (in prices)”
