Immigration reform and the financial crisis and the oil spill oh my

Is it just me or does Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan sound just like Rosie O’Donnell? When being questioned by Senator Jeff Sessions this week the senator asked her: Do you consider yourself a progressive? Kagan almost choked on her self for a full eight seconds trying to formulate her non-response. (Fast forward to about 1:50) Either way I think that she is dangerous for the country given her views on freedom of speech, abortion, and gun rights to name just a few.

Meanwhile the president, in his infinite wisdom only took 71 days to figure out that we should accept help from other countries. We also have a ship sitting at a dock in Virginia, yes Virginia, which can clean up more oil per day (500,000) barrels than we have cleaned up in the last two months combined (Just over 600,000 barrels in 71 days). Why is that Mr. President? Because you and your administration decided to politicize the oil spill like you do everything else. (Fast forward to 6:21)

The president tried to tout his stimulus bill again on Wednesday stating “We had to take the country through some pretty tough steps to pull us out of the freefall that we faced when I took office.” Well Mr. President we’re still having tough times and if it wasn’t for your administration artificially inflating the unemployment numbers by hiring temporary census workers the numbers would be far worse than they are.

He went on to bash Republicans saying “they think that our economy will do better if we just let the banks or the oil companies or the insurance industry make their own rules.” Of course this is another Obama whopper. Republicans don’t want anarchy Mr. President; we want government to keep taxes low, enforce reasonable regulations, and get out of the way.

We have so many regulations now that it requires over 25 feet of shelf space: that’s not reasonable. Would you be surprised to know that in 1925 all the regulations fit into one book? The tax code is over 17,000 pages; is that reasonable? We would be better off investigating Senator Barney Frank, Senator Chris Dodd, Jamie Gorelick, Fannie May CEO’s Franklin Raines, Daniel Mudd, Herbert Allison, and Michael Wilson as well as Freddie Mac CEO’s Dick Syron and David Moffett. These are the real culprits of the financial meltdown not unbridled capitalism and companies making their own rules.

I don’t recall the left being up in arms over Franklin Raines raking in his $90 million in bonuses while he ran that company into the ground. How about Jamie Gorelick and her $26 million? Why didn’t the SEIU thugs show up on her front lawn in protest? Because the left politicizes everything, as their god Saul Alinsky says “pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.” Obama and his administration certainly did that and distracted America away from the real culprits of the financial crisis while blaming Wall Street and the Republicans.

Together Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac secured over $12 Trillion in mortgages most of which was sub prime mortgages pushed by Dodd and Frank dating all the way back to the Clinton administration. In 2001 and 2003 the Bush administration warned of impending disaster and attempted to regulate Fannie and Freddie. Barney Frank (1:22) said “Fannie May and Freddie Mac are not in a crisis.” He went on to say they were “financially sound” and said we should be doing more to get low income people into housing. John McCain introduced legislation in 2006 to regulate the two institutions, however, it was blocked in a straight party line vote by Democrats. Now Fannie and Freddie have fallen so far that they have been delisted from the New York Stock Exchange.

Earlier I mentioned Rosie O’Donnell; she and her fellow progressives are fully out of the closet and helping the president push his job killing carbon tax, aka the American Power Act. Miss O’Donnell had this to say about the BP oil spill “seize their assets – take over the country – call it communism, call it socialism!”

Meanwhile environmental organizations, sensing blood in the water, are doing their part to help President Obama to pass his devastating environmental legislation. Greenpeace is calling for a halt to offshore drilling on their website. Our peace loving friends at Code Pink, the anti war organization that was throwing things at Nancy Pelosi, is calling for a boycott of BP gas stations, many of which are owned by franchisees (way to stand up for your countrymen). Green Change is calling for the president to give BP the corporate death penalty and even has a list of talking points about what concerned Marxists can do.

Finally the president also went on the offensive to push immigration reform. In a speech to the American University School of International Service in Washington, DC the president had this to say “In recent days, the issue of immigration has become once more a source of fresh contention in our country, with the passage of a controversial law in Arizona and the heated reactions we’ve seen across America. Some have rallied behind this new policy. Others have protested and launched boycotts of the state. And everywhere, people have expressed frustration with a system that seems fundamentally broken.”

Again the overwhelming majority of people stand behind Arizona in their fight to protect their citizens. You cannot pass any kind of reform until the border is secure, period. Otherwise we will continue to face the same situation over and over again. America is tired of subsidizing Mexico and their corrupt president Felipe Calderon.
