When the South Carolina General Assembly adjourned for it's Summer Recess, it did so with a provision to call itself back into session in the event important issues arise that needed action prior to the regular sessions start on January 12th.
State lawmakers will be returning to Columbia on Tuesday, October 27 to extended unemployment benefits for an additional seven weeks. While they are in session, Rep. Greg Delleney R- Chester says he will introduce a resolution that will begin impeachment proceedings on Governor Mark Sanford. "I can't sit in the General Assembly and allow his conduct to go without any consequences," Delleney told a local television station.
"If character matters, he will be impeached and he will be removed from office," he said. Delleney further related to several news outlets, "It's the shame and disgrace he's brought to the office of governor, the shame and disgrace he's brought to the reputation of the state. To me, that is enough."
The Republican Examiner contacted several Assemblymen, who wished to remain anonymous, for comments. Most stated that lawmakers want to wait for the ethics report, that is not expected until after the General Assembly meets for it's regular session in January 12, before they take any action on an Impeachment process. They stated that Delleney just wants to get the impeachment process started so that it will appear early in the regular sessions agenda.
This impeachment action is the result of Governor Sanford's five day trip to Argentina to meet with his Mistress without letting lawmakers, his staff, and citizens know where he was located, leaving no one 'in charge'. The Governors trip made national news and was the but of late night show jokes.
In a related story Sanford is under investigation for misappropriation of state assets during travel to Argentina and other locations during his term as Governor. Sanford's lawyers appeared in court to argue to keep the ethics investigation secret until after its' conclusion. The state high court will make a decision sometime in the next week.
Survey USA polling company reported that sixty percent of South Carolinians want Governor Sanford impeached.

Finally a lawmaker who will stand up and remove this jerk. He lied, he left his post and he stole our money. I am pretty sure I would be serving time in jail if I misappropriated that much money from a company I worked for.
He should have been tossed out long ago. Along with Sen. Ensign. Talk about hypocrisy!
