A recent blog post by “The Vail Spot” has gotten many Marylanders excited about a possible retirement from Democratic Senator Barbara Mikulski. Unfortunately, according to numerous sources, the rumor is not true.
Chris Cillizza of the Washington Post, Mike Memoli of RealClearPolitics, and the National Review Online have all reported that the 73 year-old Senator will not step down anytime soon.
If Mikulski did retire, Republican challenger Dr. Eric Wargotz’s chances for an upset election win this year would increase. So far Mikulski has raised close to $3 million while Wargot has raised almost $180,000.
Since 1976, Mikulski has never gotten less than 60% of the vote in any election.

It was a good rumor nonetheless...perked up the chatter today!
Nice article Sean......the challenger's name is Dr. Eric Wargotz......research a little more next time
Also, she has gotten less then 60% in an election. A cursory examination of the facts would have told you she got 42% against Senator Mathias in 1974. Journalists obviously no longer do the requisite research.
wow, 111 whole words, and that includes your little copyright mark and the 2010 thing, was this an article or just a useless comment (by your own submission)
I retract my comment about requisite research :). Thank you for the correct.
correct information, that is...
As I remember Coakley was confident also. Tea Party is focused on Maryland for big surprise!
Hi Sean,
Nice article! However, Dr. W is not the only contender for the Republican nomination (and in my personal opinion there are some even more competitive challengers!)
Wargotz may not be the only contender but he is the most qualified and proven. Anyone who has met him recognizes that immediately. A fine fellow indeed with a track record of bold, independent conservative thought. Not afraid to take on tough issues, listens and weighs the views of his constituents, reformed government practices and saved dollars. I live in QAC, I know.
It SHOULD be true... I mean, look at that stupid fat ugly cheap scum traitor pig democrat! Yech! Then- to have to hold our temper at the things it has voted for- the treachery of the dems is just beyond forgivable... If it will not retire on its own, it just has to BE retired!
The voters can make her retire. It's time for a thorough houes (and senate) cleaning.
Here is another contender to Mikulski's seat.

The mental midget is toast no matter how you butter it.
The voters have seen through her partisan pandering and her gift bag goodie hand-outs.
Hmph....111 words and zero research. Typical.
There are two reports that the rumor is untrue, not three. NRO cited the other two and did not use any original sources.
I like Daniel McAndrew for the seat. Mikulski HAS to go. She doesn't listen to her consituents at all, she knows what's best for us....we need every right we have taken away from us and let government rule our every move. OUT WITH THE TRASH!
Time for her to go and be voted out. She has pandered to the public interest groups and made decisions on her own that have hurt her state constiuents long enough. The only reason to that rumor would be for her to open up the seat for a certain govenor who will not win reelection. If she wins then she can have him replace her as Senator. Kind of slick isn't it. Most of her money to run comes from out of state, so you know she doesn't represent us. The truth could be right in front of her and she will vote contrary everytime. She has forgotten who has put her in office, and we will be the ones who will send her home. Let her sit home and wonder "WHA-HAPPEN"! I had all the money, advertising, etc, I should have won! But money does not pull the handles or push the buttons on the voting machines. Regardless of what you say people will remember how she betrayed them on the stimulus vote. WE WANT OUR POUND OF FLESH!
Sean it was so brave of you to share your story of abuse. It does not matter if you enjoyed it or not, the point is you were only a child (17) and the Priest was much older.
Mikulski is ill and omalley keeping her in to win the election hopefully then retire her and he'll appoint another stooge.. Don't forget Jim Rutledge is in the running. a true contender with conservative values and a constitutionalist all the way..
