Md. Democratic Party creates faux Ehrlich website

© 2010 – Report

When Sarah Palin came out with her memoir Going Rogue: An American Life, a group of liberal writers put out a similar-looking book mocking Palin called Going Rouge: Sarah Palin, An American Nightmare.

This morning, the Maryland Democratic Party has done the same with their new website BobEhrlich.org mocking probable Republican gubernatorial candidate Bob Ehrlich’s website, BobEhrlich.com.

Both websites appear similar but the BobEhrlich.org website depicts Ehrlich as a big spender, friend of lobbyists, and an incompetent leader.

In the “Message from Bob” section, the faux Ehrlich website states:

When I lost my election in 2006, I didn’t know what my next step would be. Then I realized I could still work for my special interests while I waited for another election to come around. Surely my special interest friends would pay me directly for a few years while we both waited for my return to office.

I appreciate you visiting my website to learn about my lifelong fight for the special interests. I know I can count on their support for my next election. That’s probably all I need. But, hey… it can’t hurt to have your support too.

This kind of negative campaigning does nothing to win back the moderates and centrist Dems who voted for Ehrlich in 2002. To win the election, you gotta win the moderates, and this won't do it.

This kind of juvenile politics is beneath any legitimate political party at the organizational level. The Maryland Democratic Party should be ashamed that their level of debate.
