ANNAPOLIS, Md. – On Saturday the Maryland Senate voted for the legalization of medicinal marijuana. However, the House of Delegates will not vote on the matter before studying it more.
This is a good sign that Annapolis may be making sense for once.
As I wrote in an earlier article, the enforcement of marijuana laws is extremely expensive. It also makes no sense to criminalize marijuana when alcohol and tobacco are much more harmful and addictive according to medical research.
Personally, I think the whole medicinal marijuana talk is B.S. and it is just a way to eventually legalize marijuana. This is good.
During Prohibition, Americans could get a prescription for alcohol such as whiskey. Everyone knows whiskey has no medicinal benefits and that it was just an excuse to drink alcohol amidst the illogical prohibition laws.
If the House of Delegates votes for medicinal marijuana legalization, Maryland could be on its way to eventually decriminalizing/legalizing regular marijuana use.
Just think of how much tax revenue the state would save. Also, drug violence would decrease. Personal freedom would increase and Annapolis will have made a logical decision for once.
And to any Maryland Republican that may be apprehensive about the marijuana bill, know that Republican gubernatorial candidate Bob Ehrlich is for the legalization of medicinal marijuana.

It is time to join us in allowing medical cannabis. The world did not end, or even change much when we allowed medical cannabis in California. You see stories about all the dispenaries, but I have a choice of three and they are between 45 mins and 2.5 hours away from me, not exactly saturated. LA probably needs a lot, think about the amount of people there, do you expect sick people to wait a couple hours in line? The laws against cannabis cause a lot of personal hardships on people, and they protect nobody. Well, nobody except the guys running large grows and raking in large money. Prohibition just raises the price and creates crime.

So your for legalizing cannabis but you want to deny the evidence that it is a medicine. Its only been proven by Medical Science, has also been known as a medicine for thousands of years but you still fail to believe. Hmm i guess you cant fix stupid no matter how hard we try.
The drug war is stupid and so is prohibition, but medical marijuana is not harmless and people who say it is harmless are just as dishonest as the drug warriors. Marijuana is a powerful plant drug and it causes a dependence syndrome, interferes with neurotransmitters, and can make some people very stupid. Marijuana has less negative side effects than most of the pharmaceutical drugs it replaces. But don't fool yourself- there's no magical substance that makes you feel good without having side effects that aren't good for you. Legalize marijuana for all uses, and get the police out of our personal lives, but stop believing the lie that a powerful plant drug is harmless.
