There’s plenty to see and do in Mendocino County, but adding purpose to a trip helps create memories for a lifetime. Whether you’re a beginner or experienced musician or dancer, the Middle Easter Music and Dance Camp at Mendocino Woodlands State Park August 15-22, 2010 promises to be great family fun.
This is an opportunity to learn the music and dance of Asia Minor, North Africa, and the Middle East in a nurturing, family friendly environment in Mendocino. Accommodations are 4-person enclosed rustic cabins with fireplaces and balconies. There are dining halls where the kitchen provides three ethnic meals daily as well as snacks.
At night the dining hall becomes the “Mother Earth Cabaret” where staff and students entertain each other in an intimate atmosphere. In addition, there will regularly be informal talks on folklore, music and dance from Turkey, Armenia, Greece, Persia and several Arab countries.
You can expect workshops, lectures, and classes covering such areas of interest as Middle Eastern folk dances, belly dancing, and classical and folk instruments from throughout the Middle East. There will also be ensemble coaching and performances and, naturally, parties! It wouldn't be Mendocino County without parties!

I would not mind seeing lectures and demonstrations of belly dancing. Great work getting the news of this interesting camp way in advance so people can plan for it.
Many of us can learn about different ethnic groups within our own area if we just seek them out.
