Early this morning, Disney Channel hosted the exclusive premiere of the series cartoon full length movie, "Handy Manny Motorcycle Adventure." Making their way onto the morning red carpet event included star Wilmer Valderrama along with cast members Dee Baker, Nika Futterman, Fred Stoller and Nancy
Truman. Guests included Angela Bassett, Nicole Sullivan, Ali Landry, Alison Sweeney, Neal McDonough, Madison De La Garza and Daniella Baltodano.
In this particular movie of Wilmer's show, Handy Manny (voiced by Valderrama) is ready to enjoy a family reunion. However, on his way to the reunion a few of his tool friends are missing after a stop for gas. The quick trip turns into a motorcycle adventure as Manny must figure out where they are before heading out to his family reunion.
It was a funny thing as the voices of Handy Manny's tools showed up. When one of the publicist introduced Dee Baker (voice of Turner The Screwdriver), the publicist said that "he is a tool." A few of the photographers who weren't familiar with the show got a bit of a chuckle. This reporter had to explain to the other photogs that Handy Manny has a set of tools that have voices. They finally got it but still had a chuckle.
Ali Landry's daughter was so cute as she played with the Handy Manny lifesize character on the carpet. Angela Bassett's daughter was a bit scared of the character while her son had a quizzical look on his face.
Valderrama joined in the fun as he walked the carpet and posed with Handy Manny. Joining him on the carpet for a group shot was his younger brother Christian. Christian is also one of the voices on the show.
After the screening of the movie, premiere goers were ushered into the Arclight Cinemas restaurant. The restaurant was transformed children's playroom. Stickers, temporary tattoos, coloring sheets and crayons abound. There was also photo area to take pictures with the Handy Manny character. One of Valderrama's friend took a cool picture of him holding an oversized tool box with kids sitting inside it.
One of the more exciting item to wait in line for was of the balloon artist. He had more elaborate balloon carictures other than the typical dog and giraffee. This balloon artist created Tinker Bells, fishes attached to fishing poles and octupus. Even Ali Landry and Angela Bassett waited patiently for the balloon artist. This reporter's niece Madison Norquist also waited patiently in line as she made conversation with the two actresses. Mind you that Madison is only nine years-old, she was able to hold a small conversation. Landry asked Norquist, "How old are you?" After answering her question, Landry said surprisingly , "You are tall for a nine year old." How nice to see that Landry and Bassett are down to earth.
Before leaving the after party of the premiere, gift bags were handed out featuring a red Handy Manny hoodie, a cd and dvd, plus a book version of "Handy Manny Motorcycle Adventure."
"Handy Manny Motorcycle Adventure" will be available for purchase online and in stores on on December 1, 2009, just in time to include as a stocking stuffer.
