DJ AM’s ‘Gone Too Far’ to premiere Monday on MTV
Just days before the tragic death of DJ AM, MTV had finished up editing for his reality TV show ‘Gone Too Far’ which documents real life addicts and DJ AM’s journey to get them into recovery. ‘Gone Too Far’ will premiere on Monday October 12th on MTV one week after its original premiere date.
There was some controversy after the untimely death of DJ AM on August 28th, from an accidental overdose, as whether to air the show or not, however after speaking with DJ AM’s (aka Adam Goldstein) family MTV has decided to go ahead with the eight episode ‘Gone Too Far’ reality TV show.
DJ AM’s mother reportedly watched a screening of 'Gone Too Far' last week and gave her blessing to MTV to premiere the reality TV show her son worked on. A statement from DJ AM’s family noted, "We gave our blessing. We decided that it was so touching and that it should go on the air. It was a wonderful testament to the work Adam did. I only wish he were here to help so many more."
MTV also included in their announcement to air ‘Gone Too Far’ a statement from the executive vice president of the Partnership for a Drug-Free America, Sean Clarkin: "Recovering can be extremely difficult and requires constant attention . . . but it's important to know that it is, in fact, possible to present examples of people who are recognizing the need for treatment and beginning that journey."
The series premiere of ‘Gone Too Far’ chronicles the life of a women in Philadelphia who is struggling with an addiction to heroin and DJ AM stages an intervention with those close to her in hopes she will enter into rehab.
‘Gone Too Far’ premieres at 10/9c on Monday October 10th on MTV
