DonorsChoose.org teamed up with Adam Lambert and thousands of his fans donated directly to classroom project requests posted by teachers at DonorsChoose.org.
Adam Lambert’s contest closed on Sunday raising $207,329 for the charity reaching over 80,000 students.
DonorsChoose.org created a unique Adam Lambert page for each fan group, which displayed classroom projects in need of funding. Fans donated any amount to any project of their choosing; each contribution helped that particular fan group push forward in the competition. A "Lambert leader board" at www.donorschoose.org/AdamLambert tracked real-time results.
Now that the challenge concluded, Adam has stated he will deliver supplies to a randomly selected classroom and reward the fan group with the most donations with signed photos and exclusive online interviews.
"My fans have been so amazing in their support that I would love for them to contribute to something I believe in," stated Adam Lambert. "Every kid deserves a great education and access to the materials and experiences that make it possible. I'm so thrilled to team up with DonorsChoose.org and encourage my fans to support arts and music projects in classrooms. Plus, I can't wait to see the results of the competition!"
The winning fan group is ‘ONTD_AI’ which raised $80,987 with 918 fans donating.
Even though the Adam Lambert fan contest had concluded you can still donate to donorschoose.org to help children who are in need of classroom supplies.

Adam is a smart, generous guy. His fans were just inundating him with gifts - great idea of his to redirect their efforts. Just wanted to mention also that his fans were donating before the fan club competition was set up, and continued to give in a major push yesterday even though the winning group was already obvious. This was about giving, not about winning.
I am commenting on behalf of the Globerts - Adam's International (Global) Fans. We are honoured to have participated in this charity challenge and would keep our Giving Page open and 'live' for all international fans to continue to donate to DonorsChoose.org in honour of Adam Lambert and all that he and his music stand for. In these tough economic times, we are thankful for every donation that every Globert had contributed to DonorsChoose.org, which is an American charity organisation. We hope that our charitable gestures would help bring about better understanding amongst different cultures and countries, especially with regards to the students that we have reached out and helped through DonorsChoose.org. Congratulations to the winning team. And it's nice to know how giving ADAM's fans are and are continuing giving to this charity even after the contest which should be the case. I for one will do so. ADAM is a sharing and giving person of himself and of his talents and we fans love to give him back our love and share what we have. I'm just so happy to have an idol I can identify with who has love, mercy, compassion and charity towards his neighbors especially the littlest brethren. Thank GOD for ADAM.

I am one of ADAM'S fans who contributed to this great charity even though I don't officially belong to any of his fan clubs. I too will continue to contribute to it now that I know about it to show my support in ADAM'S name. I can't go to his concerts but I can support him in other ways this being one of them. Congratulations to the winners and let us all keep on giving to these kids ... the NEED is still there!!!

Congratulations to the winners but the real winners are the kids. I donated to two groups, Globerts and Adamofficial fans and Glamberts page. I gave not to win but for the kids and to show my love and support for Adam Lambert who is a real life inspiration. Not to mention the hugest talent to appear since my lifetime. I'm proud of Adam and I'm proud of all of us who participated.
Congrats to ONTD_AI. Great job!! I donated twice under the Adam Official Glamberts. I highly commend Adam for recognizing that people listen to what he says and choosing a charity that benefits kids. I have a daughter who was in band for 7 years in a great Fine Arts program. It really made a difference and helped mold her into the person that she is today.

The cultural arts are the first things schools cut as though they are not important, however, facts prove otherwise. Art thearpy has significant healing effects in medical institutions, in rehab facilities, in prisons, in private use. Music has profound effects on people. Writing in journals and writing poems and lyrics is another art form with proven benefits. The cultural arts are important for the whole person, the spirit.we need them.

Yes, I plan on making a major contribution in the future. I was in the hospital this past month and was not able to contribute, but much better now and I am ready. I think the world of Adam, the world needs more Adams.

As a Globert, I gave a donation to that group and (before becoming a Globert) gave to the general Adam fans group. Of course I donated. Adam Lambert is an angel. I donated through TALC, although I am not a member of any fan group. But TALC has great videos, so I wanted to give them some credit.
It was a great honor for Adam fans to be asked to participate in this charity. I have the utmost respect for Adam Lambert and his fans and am overjoyed at the results. It was wonderful to see people from all over the world contribute to this charity. I agree with "ooi" that Adam Lambert
has inspired his fans to "help bring about better understanding amongst different cultures and countries," in addition to his original goal of helping American school children.
Considering that ONTD_AI's membership runs about 1,000 people (most of whom are teenagers and young college students), that they had 900 donors and raised over $80,000 is AMAZING. Watching them reach and exceed their goals (over $5,000 the last day!) gives me hope for the future. If these crazy, mouthy, in-your-face kids can raise that kind of cash selling fan art, fan fiction, and donating $1.00 (or a paycheck) at a time, they can do anything. What's even better is that they did it for kids. It's been beautiful to watch them "SHAKING AND CRYING" every time a donation goal was reached.
ONTD_AI loves Adam - but they did this for children. And when the charity drive hit $200K, those "benches" went ballistic in balls of *FLAIL* and *OMGAWESOME* for ALL the fan communities that donated. Congrats to the Glamberts, Glittizens, Glittermat, Lambskanks, and everyone else who worked so hard and gave so much. Together, we can move mountains!
I participated and I definitely plan on continuing to donate, just not every week like I did for the last month. I'm proud of all Adam fans for making the challenge such a success. It really doesn't matter who won the challenge because as I see it, the students and teachers are the real winners here.
I gave through ONTD_AI but I think what all the groups did was amazing. I am so happy that we all kept giving even when, yeah, the results did seem obvious. We all just really wanted to do our best to help children and arts education and winning was secondary.
I will support Adam and will continue to support worthwhile charities--Adam rocks education!
I contributed under ONTD_AI, Glittizens, and Lambskanks. And everyone is right - the winners are the kids. Reading the thank you letters from some of the teachers who really never expected to get their projects funded almost gets me crying every time. I plan to continue contributing on an ongoing basis. And I thank Adam for bringing Donors Choose to everyone's attention. I had never heard of it before he asked his fans to contribute there instead of buying gifts for him.
This was such a fun thing to be a part of! Adam must be so proud of all of us for our hard work and selflessness, and for totally destroying everyone's expectations week after week. I don't think anyone could have predicted just how many kids were going to be helped by this little competition. 80,000. That's just insane.
Congrats to ONTD_AI for continually coming up with cleverer and more creative ways to encourage their members to donate :). It's true when people say that many of our members are broke college kids, but a lot of them were among some of the most enthusiastic donors. I'm so proud to be able to say that I hang out with people who, in 4 short weeks, managed to raise over $80,000 (!!!) for public school kids.

I'm not a member of a fan group but donated with a nod to Adam anyway. I wasn't aware of Donorschoose.org before and as a former educator will be going back regularly now. Great job everyone!
I donated from Adam Official and, as a retired school teacher, I was so proud of Adam for supporting this cause. I met him in Portland, Maine, and told him I knew that there was a lot of waste in education, but that I knew teachers knew what they needed, and I loved this project because the money was not going to some ivory towered administrator, but directly to the teacher for the named project. I further told him how proud I was of him for supporting this cause. He gave me the biggest smile, and as I was moving to the next idol on the table (we were rushed along), he actually reached out and grabbed my hand. To bad I did not get a picture of that! I wish I had known about DonorsChoice.Org when I was teaching, and I am so glad Adam has taught me about this charity.
It was so great of Adam to ask for donations to charity in his name rather than people giving him gifts he didn't really need. What would he have done with $200,000 of trinkets? :)

Yes, I gave every week under AdamOfficial. Congratulations to ONTD_AI what an amazing job you all did!! You should be very proud of raising that amount of money in such a short period of time. The winners are the children and I think all the fan bases did such an amazing job rallying people together to give. The leaderboards are going to remain standing so I hope everyone continues to give.

It was my pleasure to donate to this cause on Adam's behalf. As a bored high school student it was the choir that kept me in school until graduation, and our school didn't even have an art class until my senior year. Adam isn't just a rock god, but one heck of a nice guy who sets an example for all to follow.

I donated with two different fan groups. There are so many basic needs that most people would have taken for granted is a challenge to many of these students. I am delighted I was able to contribute to the overall effort.
