Danny Gokey
Season 8 American Idol contestant Danny Gokey released his first single "It's Only" last week. Gokey made it to the top 3 on Season 8 before being voted off. He had a soulful voice remniscent of Doobie Brother's singer Michael McDonald. Gokey stole the fans' hearts during auditions when he shared his story saying his drive for trying out for the show was because of his wife who had passed away.
Gokey is following in the footsteps of Idol winner Carrie Underwood by going country. His album is anticipated to be released in March 2010. When speaking of his single Danny said "The song went past the mental element and came directly into my heart. I don't know how to explain it. I feel it when I sing it." Congratulations Danny!

We all know Danny Gokey is gonna make it! This is the best song ebberr! Makes me cry everytime i listen to it! It speaks from the heart, and its not a remake of anything, and i love when Danny sings about Jesus cause it just sounds right. It sounds fantastic. Go to Danny's Myspace and listen to it. Be sure to leave nice positive reviews yall and those of you who are new to Dannys fan community, we're a great community full of friendly gals who love Danny. So keep listening to it! Dont discrimnate because he went country, I myself am not a big country music fan, but give it a try and watch and see!

Nice work Danny and his RCA team. This is exactly the type of prerecorded music they have been playing in Southern Baptist Churches for my entire life and I am in my fifties! Not bad for a truck driver "worship leader" from Milwakee, all in the space of AI and the good counsel of Paula Abdul that he should go country. Perfect fit for the voice he has and perfect fit for Southern Baptists.
Danny's song melted my heart. I'm not really a charitable person but his song hits me in the head. It's about time we hear more songs like this, compelled me to do something in my own small way. Thanks Danny, you do inspire a lot of people and that includes me.
Adam Lambert is the only true idol to come off the show. Danny will be forgotten as he should be.

Not so good. Danny cannot measure up to our great male country voices and that karaoke contest is a sham- the best male voices belong to country singers-and that leaves Danny out. Way out.
I love Danny but find this son just too "preachy." If I want a sermon, I'll go to church. Sorry Danny - I'm disappointed.
I truly love Danny's voice on this song. It suits him very well and gives him a chance to show the many textures and levels he's able to bring to his singing vocally and emotionally.
Look forward to seeing him perform it live somewhere soon, and to buying Danny's upcoming album.
