Tom Sparks, a 33-year-old man who competed on the ABC reality show "Wipeout" has tragically passed away. Funeral services were held on Wednesday in California.
Although Sparks' cause of death is officially being deferred pending medical tests, it is believed that he died of a stroke, following the completion of an obstacle course for the show. After complaining of knee pain and shortness of breath, he was taken to the hospital, where he subsequently died two weeks later, on November 5th.
"Wipeout," currently in its third season, required contestants to complete physically arduous stunts in order to win cash prizes. All participants were required to take a physical exam in order to compete.
Although Sparks did not list any pre-existing conditions in his application form, his father said that doctors think that the stroke was caused by a pre-existing condition known as antiphospholipid anitbody syndrome, which causes abnormal blood clotting
