Mya, Donny and Kelly
After 10 weeks of performances, it all came down to tonight!! Last night Mya scored well with the judges, but Donny was only a few points behind. Kelly was way behind due to a few mishaps, but you never know who the audience will vote for! Tonight's two hour Finale of Dancing with the Stars Season 9 set out to award the Mirror Ball Trophy to one of them, but first there had to be some entertainment!
Whitney Houston was the first entertainer of the night performing her new single "Million Dollar Bill". Jeffrey Ross returned to discuss The Losers Club whose members were all of the stars who got voted off the show first. Jeffrey inducted Ashley Hamilton into The Losers Club and gave him his official sparkly jacket, after which Ashley performed his last dance of the season with Edyta. In addition to Ashley's return, all of the other contestants from the season returned to strut there stuff one last time on the stage. Luckily their dances were combined so they each only had a short piece to perform.
Most of the performances by the past dancers were somewhat silly and meant to be fun rather than great dancing. Overall most of these stars reminded us why they were eliminated. To keep with the theme of silliness, Adam Carolla returned to coach Donny since he wanted a man to win. Later, each of the final three performed one of their favorite dances from the season and received praise from the judges. Afterward the judges rated the three finalists from first to last to give them a score of 30, 28 or 26 added to their total scores from last night. 3rd Place (26) = Kelly, 2nd Place (28) = Mya and 1st Place (30) = Donny!
Irvin vs Rice: Tonight Michael Irvin finally got to go head to head against Jerry Rice to see who's really better at Dancing with the Stars! After the two football players danced off, the judges awarded the Mirror Ball Ring to Michael Irvin! But afterward they gave another Mirror Ball Ring to Jerry leaving them both to take one home. In another silly entertainment filler, Jerry Springer, Cloris Leachman and Steve Wozniak and Joanna Krupa performed a competition-style Mambo. This was just another joke-filled entertainment which left Joanna and Derek as the winners.
There really wasn't much serious dancing going on tonight which was may disappoint some viewers. After such a long season, a lot of people probably wanted to see the stars dancing at their best but instead many of the performances were just silly or joke filled.
Let's get to the results already! If you subtract all the silliness, the Dancing with the Stars Finale comes down to about 10 minutes of actual content. So you are probably coming here to find out who won! well I waited 2 hours to find out so I had to make you wait at least a little bit. But let's get to it!
In Third Place... Kelly Osbourne - no surprise there! The audience booed a bit but if they go by their dancing they simply were not good enough to be named the winner! In Second Place... Mya! She has been the favorite of the judges and I read many fan pages claiming she is by far the best, but I guess the audience didn't quite agree with that. The winner of Dancing with the Stars Season 9 is Donny Osmond!! Donny must have more fans out there in the world and not only that but he was a great entertainer. The judges often praised Donny for his ability to charm the audience and that is exactly what he needed to win the Mirror Ball Trophy. Sorry Mya, but apperantly you just didn't have what it takes to win Dancing with the Stars.

I realize that it's only a television show, but I really wanted to see Mya win. She worked very hard throughout the season without making any mistakes while her competitors (for example, Donny) constantly made goofs especially in the last few weeks. All in all, I wish Mya the very best in her career.
I don't know why but I never really cared for Mya and wondered all season why the judges thought she was so perfect. Perhaps it was just the entertainment factor that was lacking for me. I saw Mya make little hesitations here and there last nights but the judges wouldn't point it out near the end - they just wanted to give her 30s. I know she had a lot of fans, but I actually enjoyed watching Kelly and Donny much more.
I am glad that Donny won. Mya did a great job but lacked the luster that Donny has. Donny danced well and had the showmanship that wowed the audience.
