Kyle Beckerman hoists the MLS Cup
Two days after defeating the L.A. Galaxy to win the MLS Cup, Real Salt Lake celebrated their championship with fans throughout the Salt Lake City metropolitan area. Real started the day at a luncheon with Utah Governor Gary Herbert before celebrating with fans at the Utah State Capitol Building. After the ceremony at the capitol building, RSL players and personnel traveled down State Street in a motorcade to Rio Tinto Stadium with fans lining the street during select portions of the 16 mile trip.
Once at Rio Tinto Stadium, RSL celebrated with another ceremony in front on fans who filled in the west side of the stadium. Players were introduced one by one to the crowd before gathering on a stage at midfield. The ceremony at Rio Tinto featured speeches by Sandy mayor Tom Dolan, owner Dave Checketts, coach Jason Kreis, and several RSL players.
