The Rat City Rollergirls (RCRG) — Seattle’s premiere women’s flat track roller derby league — want to know if you’ve got what it takes to hit the track with the elite! The 2011 season is fast approaching, and the off-season is the perfect time to join and get up to speed. Roller derby is a fast-paced, hard-hitting, endurance-based sport that takes lots of time, dedication, and sheer mental ability. If you think you can hack it, come to tryouts and show off what your mama gave you....or what you picked up at the gym.
What's required?
Minimum RCRG League Membership requirements:
•Participate in two to three, 2-hour practices per week
•Maintain a minimum of seven hours of committee work a month
•Provide timely payment of monthly league dues – $35
•Provide timely payment of Women’s Flat Track Roller Derby Association (WFTDA) annual insurance – $50
•Wear proper safety gear (helmet, mouth guard, elbow pads, knee pads, and wrist guards)
•Read and understand the official WFTDA derby rules
•Purchase team uniform and league jersey
•Have current primary medical insurance
•Willingly adhere to the RCRG Skater Code of Conduct
•Have a ton of chutzpah, sweat, determination, and a nice smile
Tryout Details:
•Date: July 17, 2010
•Time: 1:00– 4:00 p.m. Doors and registration open at 12:00 p.m.
•Location: Rat City training facility – Rat’s Nest 5305 Shilshole Ave NW
•Who: Women 21+, must be able to skate and stop safely
•Cost: $10 (cash only)

No time? No worries. The regular Pre-Season Big Huge Tryout will be held September 18, 2010. Of course, just running through the tryout process can be fun and help you prepare for the next one, so think twice about not going for it in July! You might learn a thing or two.
