Tonight is Lou Dobbs last news report on CNN. Dobbs announced his departure from the network during his show at 7 p.m. EST.
"Some leaders in the media, politics and business have been urging me to go beyond my role here at CNN and engage in constructive problem-solving," said Dobbs tonight. He also added that he is "considering a number of options and directions."
The New York Times reported last month that Dobbs met Roger Ailes, FOX News Chairman, for dinner in September. It is speculated by some that the longtime anchor could be a potential hire for the FOX Business Network.
Rasmussen Reports finds that only 4% of Americans trust reporters more than themselves when it comes to what's good for America. However, Dobbs earned a degree in Economics from Harvard University and later became the host of CNN's "Money Matters." It's fair to say he is educated and experienced.
Dobbs has been a controversial figure in the media. His views on illegal immigration have caused a stir. In March he said that the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce is "an organization that is interested in the export of American capital and production to Mexico and Mexico's export of drugs and illegal aliens to the United States. He was also scrutinized for devoting a segment on his show to people known as "birthers" who insist President Obama was born in Kenya.
What do you think Lou Dobbs next step will be?

Comments
He is top notch.
Perfect fit for FOX news. A thoughtful conservative buffer for the arch conservative loonies frequenting the network. I dont agree with him, and he has slanted his political, and social views far to my right, but he is not a wing nut.
I agree with Jerome that he'd be a great fit at Fox, although I disagree Fox is full of arch conservative loonies. Most people have been so DUMBED DOWN by the slop propagated by the liberal media that it is hard to see the #1 network not spewing the lib talking points.
The author speaks of "birthers" as if she has already decided they are wrong - she does not understand the applicable laws, therefore her opinion is derived from blind ignorance. Kimberly Willingham's tainted and biased article is "yellow journalism" at its worst.
