Upon hearing Dj Green Lantern Presents Emilio Rojas, The Natural, one would think that he has been around for awhile given the way he flows. The depth of his rhymes prove that he is an emcee on the rise. The fourteen tracks complement his paced and reflective style well.
"Untouched," is a moving story on swagger and success with a beat driven by DJ Static and Charlemagne. Rojas' capitalizes on the chorus, "I don't give away my respect/I make em' earn it/nothin is for free." The sharp smoothness of "Only Just Begun," breathes a touch of class into The Natural. A masterful storyteller, Emilio Rojas, discusses a new relationship with melodic bars and cool production from Boi-1da.
The Natural offers a more accomplished sound than Recession Proof, his first collection of freestyles and songs. The provoking, "Sympathy for the Devil," is a retrospective picture as Emilio tells a story through his father's eyes. It reads like a letter from father to son. This is one of The Natural's best rhymes.
Rojas proves that he can flow rapidly on "City Lights," a piece on living above one's means just to maintain an image and takes a drive along the thought provoking on "Tic Toc." The artistry of the song is a three scened sketch with a catchy and intense chorus. The cut is worth many listens to digest Emilio's concise and tempestuous message.
Listen to Emilio Rojas' "Tic Toc."
Rojas pays homage to 90's hip hop with "Bold & Arrogant," a bass and treble piece on self-opinion and strikes chords with harsh realities on "Piano Bounce."
Emilio Rojas will definitely be apart of hip hop's future. He has the knack, determination and creativity that not too many emcees exhibit nowadays. As the collection of songs on The Natural fade, it is hard to believe that the mixtape is actually over.
