Since Tareq and Michaele Salahi strolled into infamy on the red carpet last Tuesday, crashing the White House State dinner, their story has been vying for attention but they have been nowhere in sight.
The Secret Service has admitted their fault and their embarrassment that these candidates for a reality show were able to so easily dupe them. Was it an inside job or were agents not doing their jobs? Authorities argue that the couple had been through a metal detector and they presented no threat to the president.
Photos show, without proper credentials, the Salahi's were admitted to the receiving line and actually shook the hand of the president. Michaele Salahi probably said to Barack Obama as she clutched his hand in the receiving line, 'remember me? we met at that thing with the Black Eyed Peas.'
The couple has posted on their facebook a photo of them with the Black Eyed Peas group and Barack Obama is in the picture. Maybe Obama had casually said to Michaele then, 'if you're ever in the area, stop by the White House' and she considered that to be her invitation.
Has Obama made any comment on this? Is this a matter for national security? Should there be any concern for how easily these two made their way into the white house? Can we expect more cases of copy cats trying to outdo each other for reality shows? Is this an unusual breach of protocol or an indication that the people of authority are asleep at the switch?
It was announced today that there will be an intense inquiry and charges may be filed against the couple. In the broad scope of things, this incident is more refreshing than the Balloon boy incident (wouldn't a black family have had their children taken away?) and definately crashing a White House party is a bolder stunt for getting national attention. Some say only 'white people' would have the audacity to pull off either one of these stunts. Would you agree?

They should go to federal prison. Selling the story of how they got into the white house is grounds for a threat to national security and putting the life of the president at stake. I'm sure there's a lot of Osamas waiting to find a way into the white house. I don't think they were serving plastic knives. Not to hard to figure out what comes next. This is no different then selling secrets to foreign intelligence.
Denver Race Relations Examiner, I have no doubt you have several relatives or friends who are better people to ask about lying than Martha Stewart or wearing an orange jumpsuit. These people would know "lying to a federal agent is not a good thing." You are a liar for lying about her lying because no evidence existed that she did any "lying to a federal agent." Martha Stewart was screwed by bad legal representation. Next time, instead of invoking the name of Martha Stewart in a trash comment, look at your family and friends.
No, I would not agree. Why, you ask? Because Tareq Salahi is a Palestinian, and not white by popular American definition. Sure, his wife is, and I have no doubt that's how the whole thing went down (her blondeness and beauty having much to do with it), but let's not start calling Arabs white when they face arguably the most discrimination in this country at the current moment.
White people do things like this for the rush....
They jump off of bridges with cords wrapped around their ankles for the rush. They scale buildings in spiderman outfits, again for the rush. They put themselves in harm's way because of their addiction to adrenalin. I don't hear black people doing things like this, "for the rush." If these were brown-skinned individuals (with echos of Fort Hood still playing in the minds of most) heads would roll, and there would be talk of possible terrorist affiliations. The white mainstream is more forgiving/tolerant of its own and is all too ready to minimize the effects cause by one of its own. There will be explanations and there will be reasons why the couple did what they did. They will be lauded on forums and blogs alluding to the size of their balls in pulling off such an act.
