Toshonna Ross knows about courage. She went through hell; and came out the other side fighting.
Toshonna was the victim of domestic violence; so bad it almost killed her. Throughout her nightmare she got up every day, went to work, and cared for her children. Without anyone ever knowing what she was enduring.
For most people, the process of recovering from a traumatic experience has to be a selfish one. They must look inward to fight for their survival, and take care of themselves, before they can take on the pain of others. Not Toshonna. A year ago, she took her pain and anguish and focused it into creating the Courageous Women Foundation.
Toshonna’s vision for the
Courageous Women Foundation was to create a place that recognizes women’s strength, and celebrates the experience of being alive. “Courageous Women is an interactive place that provides strength, both mentally and spiritually for women who have faced trauma,” per Toshonna.
Courageous Women, celebrates women through acknowledgment of their strengths, courage, endurance and power; bringing women together to inspire and empower their lives and to remind them of their worth and importance in this world.
Per the Courageous Women website, “Courageous Women is an organization, soon to be a nonprofit that celebrates the lives of women through our annual events, workshops, retreats and other special events throughout the year. We celebrate the trials and triumphs, struggles, successes, strengths and courage of women, reminding them of their worth and importance in this world.”
On Saturday, January 16, the Courageous Women Foundation is hosting a free Resume and Interview Skills Workshop for women seeking employment. At the workshop, in addition to having their resume critiqued, women can attend break-out sessions on: communication, professional image tips, job search techniques, and interview techniques.
