Does marriage mean anything anymore? When Usher first announced that he was dating his stylist turned girlfriend, Tameka Foster, a few years back, his fans were enraged. When male recording artists or celebrities for that matter announce that they are off of the single market, fans usually feel a little hurt and robbed of fantasies but they usually subside; with Usher's change of marital status, fans felt he deserved more.

But it didn't stop there. Usher's mother was also not so pleased with Usher's decision to date his stylist and was equally, if not more P.O.'ed that he would decide to later marry her. How did she react? She simply boycotted the wedding by not attending, ouch!

In Touch Weekly has confirmed that the "Yeah" singer is separated from his wife, a move that will lead to an inevitable divorce. The fiber of their marriage started to dwindle for a while, reportedly it happened after the couple welcomed their second son into the world. And although Usher rushed to his wife's side after she went into cardiac arrest during cosmetic surgery in Brazil, they were already separated; in fact, he had no idea that she was even in Brazil. Sources say that Usher simply wants to be there for his children nothing more nothing less.

It looks like there may be some inspiration from Usher's current situation with his wife, more like art imitating life with his new album Monster, (the title alone screams drama). The album which is due for release in October of this year, is currently in production with hit music producer Pharrell Williams lending an ear to the project, looks like it may be a part two to the singers Platinum selling album Confessions.

Usher's fan appeal reached an all time high when he released Confessions in 2004 making him a sex symbol and top artist, he was well on his way to becoming iconic; but it seems as soon as he decided to put a ring on Tameka's finger, his appeal died and was buried six feet under. With the new marriage came career changes including the firing of his longtime manager and mother Jonnetta Patton. With the decision to let her go, his 2008 release Here I Stand fell short of his past success leaving Usher's career hanging by a thread.

As harsh as it may sound, given the emotional repercussions divorce creates, him ending his marriage with Tameka may have been the best move he could have made for his career; as for his family life that will remain to be seen, there are children involved making the situation a little more sensitive. Now that Usher is a newly single man, will the decision selvage his career?
