April 7 is No Housework Day. Now this is an idea that I think we can all get behind! Even you compulsive cleaners can take a break. (Really! It's ok, we won't judge you!)
It seems that no matter how often I dust and vacuum, my house is full of cat hair. No matter how many times I wash them the dirty clothes and dishes pile up. No matter how many times I tidy them, every horizontal surface in my house picks up stacks of magazines, papers, receipts and junk.
The one place where the cats aren't allowed is my sewing room. There I can leave things out without fear that they'll be shed on, shredded, or dragged away to snuggle with. I can be creatively messy in there and since the door is always shut, no one needs to see it.
No Housework Day is a perfect day to go play in your sewing room. Shut the door, turn on the music or TV (or turn them off it they distract you) and enjoy yourself, guilt-free, knowing that other quilters around the world are taking a day off from housework along with you.
Relax! The dishes will still be there tomorrow!
