Get a job!
No, really--it's your best opportunity to get PoE daily without even logging on. Hiring on at a Shoppe or Stall in the Puzzle Pirates world means that your character "works" a certain number of labor hours a day, if the labor is needed. The Shoppe/Stall gets that many more hours towards completing necessary in-game products, and you get PoE.
Seems simple, right? Well... it's not quite that simple, not if you want to really maximize the profitability of your daily allotment of labor hours. And since you'll be paying per month to keep your subscription or labor badge current, you definitely want to make sure you're getting the best return on your labor that you can. Here's some things to consider when taking a job:
1. Only take jobs where a puzzle exists.
2. Obtain ocean-wide Renowned standing in that puzzle.
Labor comes in three grades: Basic, Skilled and Expert. You get the most pay per hour if you provide expert labor. If you take a job at a furnisher's or tailor's where there is no actual puzzle (yet!), your labor hours will be distributed semi-randomly across the grade spectrum. But if you take a job with an actual puzzle, you'll provide your highest grade of labor, as determined by your ocean-wide puzzle standing (Distinguished for Skilled, Renowned for Expert), as long as that grade of labor is needed at that Shoppe/Stall.
On doubloon oceans, you should probably avoid buying a labor badge until you hold ocean-wide Renowned in at least one crafting puzzle. Watch the free-play schedule for a chance to practice your puzzling skills without needing a badge.
3. Take jobs only where the Mission tab sends you.
Just because a Shoppe or Stall is hiring doesn't mean they actually have a need for your labor. If their advanced labor quota is filled and no orders have been placed, that establishment won't use, or pay for, your labor. You want to take a job at an establishment that's keeping busy! The best way to find one is to visit the Mission tab on the Notice Board. A crafting mission such as "Work at Distilling" will always send you to an establishment with orders in its queue.
4. Monitor your Labor Report.
So you hired on at a place with a busy orders queue. Great! But will it still be busy three days from now? Get in the habit of checking your Labor Report to make sure. To find your Labor Report, click on "Ye" tab in the sunshine widget, then click on your pirate's name, then click on the "Labor" tab in the main screen. You'll see where your labor hours got used over the past 10 days or so and how much money you got for them. If one of your three employers is conspicuously absent from the Labor Report, is using very few of your hours, or just never seems to make use of your expert labor, consider replacing that job with a new, more profitable one.
5. Stay current.
If you don't actually play a crafting puzzle for ten days, your crafting skill lapses and you stop producing labor at places of employment. And if you don't log in for more than 10 days, you'll lose all your jobs! To avoid wasting your labor hours this way, make sure you visit a Shoppe or Stall and "do your job" at least once every ten days.
