Coulter's new book building publicity
Within hours of The Drudge Report headlining that TODAY had cancelled Ann Coulter’s appearance – it was then reported they were “re-thinking” their decision. Scheduled in advance to be her first network TV promo of her new book, GUILTY, which charges media bias during the Obama Presidential campaign, the network not only cancelled the top rated conservative author’s appearance on the morning show but it was claimed they had said she was banned from other shows on NBC, MSNBC and CNBC.
What happened?
The Drudge Report exposed the NBC decsion to the world. CBS Early Show with Harry Smith smartly booked the author. Ann Coulter told her side of the story in her live appearance on Hannity & Colmes. And, of course, all of this fit into the entire premise of her book, GUILTY, that the media are the only ones with power in our culture. NBC was criticized during the campaign and even had to make MSNBC personnel changes due to their biased coverage in favor of President-elect Barack Obama. So why would we be surprised the same network has decided to halt Ann Coulter, the top selling conservative author, from addressing their TV audience.
More than what an actual appearance on TODAY can do for an author by reaching millions and getting them to buy your book -- ironically, this entire NBC cancellation-banning-rethinking situation is bigger and better publicity which will help Coulter sell even more copies of her book! Not only is she able to make news on the book release but now she has a controversy that fits right into her book premise…the media is GUILTY! A TV cancellation has never been such wonderful PR...some authors just have all the luck!

Exposed NBC to the world? For what? Wanting to put on breaking news rather than pimping an author? You're right that Coulter gets more publicity this way, but only because people like you twist what really happened into a lie.

I would never even have heard of this book if not for the publicity trap NBC fell into. Now I'll just have to go out and buy it! Brilliant lol.
I can't believe you fell for this. Of course they didn't "ban" her. There are other stories online denying this was the case. Maybe you should wait a day or two before posting things until the full story is known. Jumping the gun leads to loss of credibility.
Matt,I have just viewed your interview with Coulter. Her comments about single women are correct but you seem to deny or listen to the platform from which she speaks. Her comments come from statistics that she has accumulated over her research. How insane for her to make such a statement and not have stats to backup her statements. I work in a career college and I see it everyday, single girls coming in thinking that being unwed and having a baby is ok. They don't woryy
many times at how she is going to support the child. They know how to work the system and get almost everything paid for, school, food and housing. I even work with a women who has 2 children and not wed. In the south you would be surprised at what many of the black preachers are saying from their pulpits. There are even churches who encourage proliferation. I was shocked to learn this. I have always felt that lack of education is a root to many of our serious problems here in our country. We are not raising our children to be of sound and strong character. Let's live together, let's have a baby and not wed. The government will take care of us they say.
