Whether to save traffic headaches or money, taking MARTA to your office can be a good solution. You can base your choice of employers around their convenience to transit and take advantage of the best time to ride MARTA by using it as a weekday commute (learn more about optimizing your commute here).
To get you started, here are the employers and train stations to look for:
- Downtown
Major employers downtown include Georgia State University, state/city government and Grady Hospital (all near the Georgia State Station). You'll also find CNN and a handful of non-profits and smaller office buildings near Five Points. - Peachtree Center
The Peachtree Center business district offers plenty of employers and high-rise office buildings, including the Georgia-Pacific Building and Suntrust Bank. More financial companies are located here and plenty of hotels (including the Westin, Hilton, Hyatt, Ritz Carlton and Marriott Marquis) provide jobs for those in the hospitality industry. - North Avenue
The Bank of America Tower and one of the Bell South Buildings are right next to the North Avenue station. There is also easy access to Georgia Tech and the Tech Square where there are additional office buildings. Emory University Hospital Midtown is another option, which you can also walk to from the Civic Center Station. A little further down, the Coca-Cola Headquarters is about a 15 minute walk down North Avenue, or catch bus 113 from Arts Center or Five Points to get there. - Midtown
Turner Broadcasting and the midtown business district are located near this station. The north campus of Georgia Tech is also close by with the stinger shuttle that provides service to campus. Google and AGL Resources have offices next to MARTA as well. In between the Midtown and North Avenue stations is the Biltmore, which houses several environmental non-profits and other businesses. - Arts Center
If you are into the arts, Woodruff Arts Center is located right at this stop as well as the Savannah College of Art and Design, more non-profits (Sierra Club, EarthShare) and the Boys and Girls Club of America. Also, one of Atlanta's largest law firms, Alston and Bird, along with Norfolk Southern are a short walk away from this station. - Lindbergh
The relatively new Lindbergh Center has several large office buildings, where MARTA headquarters are located. - Buckhead
Plenty of office buildings line Peachtree Road, including the Atlanta Financial Center. Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia has an office in stone's throw of the tracks and retail jobs can be found at Lenox Square Mall. - Lenox
Resurgens Plaza is right next to the Lenox Station, along with Lenox Square Mall. Some of the employers at Resurgens include law firms such as Roberts, Erck & Cleveland Attorneys at Law and EpsteinBeckerGreen (see a larger list of law offices here). For government-minded workers, the SEC also has an office up the street. - Medical Center
As the station suggest, this station offers access to Northside Hospital, Children's Healthcare of Atlanta and St. Joseph's Hospital. - Dunwoody
Perimeter Mall offers retail opportunities next to the Dunwoody Station. - Sandy Springs
Next to the Sandy Springs Station is the Northpark Town Center, which contains many offices and employers such as Oracle and John Hancock Financial Services.
