Many tourists and business travelers use MARTA when visiting Atlanta, especially when taking MARTA from the airport. There are a few areas to choose from when selecting hotels close to MARTA, depending on what you plan to do while in the city: downtown, Midtown and Buckhead.
Downtown hotels may not offer as much nightlife nearby, but are very close to convention centers, Americas MART, Georgia Aquarium/Centennial Olympic Park and the downtown business district.
Midtown is just a short train ride up the street and offers more nightlife and cultural attractions like the High Museum of Art and Piedmont Park, and some might feel a greater comfort here. While there is often less panhandling in Midtown than downtown, Midtown has its share of other safety problems.
Buckhead hotels are in a nice business/shopping district and are still within a 20-minute train ride to downtown. Buckhead is a great place to stay if you are doing business in the area or enjoy upper scale restaurants, hotel bars and shopping.
Below are more specific hotels to consider, but by no means is a comprehensive list. Sometimes it is best to use Google to map a MARTA station and see what hotels are nearby for a more complete picture. My guidebook will also containing listings of hotels within a 15-minute walking radius of each station with walking directions and approximate walking times.
