Victim speaks out to protect other moms from predators like the 'Day Care Rapist'

Julie Weil as she talks to other moms about her ordeal and how to stay safe.

It has been over six years since that seemingly bright and sunny day in October of 2002 when Julie Weil went about her usual routine, picking up her young daughter from a church day care in Miami-Dade County.

It was “12 noon on a Wednesday afternoon at a church like this in a safe neighborhood,” Weil told the group of preschool moms she spoke out to last week in Jupiter, Fl.

While picking up her 3-year old daughter with her eight-month old son in tow, Weil came face to face with Michael Siebert, Miami’s “Day Care Rapist.”

Siebert proceeded to hold Weil and her two young children captive in their own family van. He drove them around and forced her young children to watch as he repeatedly raped and beat her.

"Those are the images I'll never get over, the sounds of the screaming and the looks on their faces," said Weil.

Now, many years later, the images are still emblazoned in her mind, but they now give her a new purpose. She speaks out to other young mothers and warns them about the dangers of assuming you are safe. Whether its one in the morning in an empty parking lot or noon in a crowded church parking lot, predators can attack, and Weil hopes her horrifying experience can alert others and help keep them safe.

Weil has great tips which can be found below. For Miami-Dade County moms and dads, these tips could be the things that keep both them and their precious children from suffering from similar horrifying events.

It's horrible to think of how many of us can be a victim to this type of crime. I'm glad to see someone has turned her horrific experience into something that will educate others in how to protect themselves.
